Did you have a friend who died, but was revived again? If so, you can ask them how it felt. But please, friend, don't just blurt out, "Did dying hurt?"
When I die, I'd love to die in my sleep. That way, you know, there's no pain. The best way to die in my opinion is of old age, and not from all these diseases that are out there these days. So, hopefully, you die in your sleep. :) My dad is 64 and is still kickin!
Good luck, and please, don't worry so much. Mind over matter, remember that. Live healthy and you may have another 20-30 years under your belt.

Well....if anyone here knew if death was painful, I don't know how they would be here, but anyways, everyone has their time where they will die from age. I assume it will NOT be painful, because you will be dead, not able to feel the pain. Also, basically, your dying because everything in your body is not able to do everything it has for the past 60 or longer(depending on how old you are when you die) years.
The reason for that is because....well....its like, if you run around outside for hours and hours, tour going to get tired and take a break every once in a while, right? Well, its like, your body can only pump blood, digest food, etc. for however long you live(if you die of age), then it takes a break, forever, basically.
So...I kinda said more than needed, but to sum it all up, my opinion is it probably will not be painful.

What a question...kind of like "if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a noise?" This is a tough question as I don't think we have too many witness accounts of death being painful. Most people who die don't say too much and are often VERY cold-hearted. I would suggest talking to someone about this fear or anxiety.

Death, itself is not known to be painful.
Illness or accident preceeding death would be a source of pain.
Having a place to ask your questions,
and to be at peace with the answers
will be invaluably benefitial to you.
Consider making 2 appointments.
One with your family Doctor.
One with a minister.
Until then Open a Bible to the Gospel of John. Read chapter 3. When you get to verse 16, use your own name in the place of "whosoever"
I pray you will find this both meaningful and comforting.

My parents are around 60, and I'd kill them if they talk about death. You can still have 40+ more years to live.
But anyways, death is nothing to be afraid of, unless for those who love you. Was coming out of your mother's stomach painful for you, when she gave birth to you? Or better, was it painful when a sperm from your father entered an egg from your mother to make your first cell?

Well that will depend what you die from. If you die a natural death I don't think so.
Now my question is why are you afraid? You are still young, and no matter how much you worry about it, it will eventually happen, and you can get your self sick thinking and worrying about it.
Are you a believer at all? I am, and I am not afraid to die, (57yrs) when the Good Lord wants me, I will go peacefully. Yes I know about our loved ones, but believing will make it easy on them, and like I said we are all going to die sooner or later.
If you think of any powerful being in the universe, ask him/her why are you afraid? if you believe in God, ask and you shall receive peace in your heart and you will see it as a journey home to be with our Father, our creator.
God Bless you

I would say that death itself is not painful, but the events that may cause death can be extremely so. There is nothing you can do to prevent dying, so why get all worked up about it.

You're only sixty! That's not at death's door by any means - my grandmother is eighty-one and still going strong - she walks regularly, eats healthily and is in good health for her age.
You should still have decades ahead of you, if you take care of your health - regular exercise and a healthy diet that's tailored for your specific needs.
If you still have a lot of anxiety over this, talk to your doctor about it - he may be able to perscribe anti-anxiety medication to allay your fears.
