Why am I afraid to be naked in public?

1. Because it is illegal and I would be arrested.
2. Because other people would be offended.
3. Because my skin is very saggy and baggy.
4. Because, I don't trust people to keep their thoughts pure.

People are afraid to be naked because it's a taboo that's inculcated very early on in most western cultures. Obviously it's not something we're born with - little kids have no qualms whatever about running around naked, after all! Likewise, cutures in tropical areas often have little or no nudity taboo.

Taboos, once taught, are extremely hard to break; most of us who were raised in a society where nudity is taboo would have quite a lot of difficulty being nude even in a society where it is considered perfectly acceptable; it's just the way our brains tick once something is put in place, especially when the people putting it there are our parents.

Only those people whose cultures teach them that they shouldn't be or can't be naked in public are "afraid." Even some of them aren't "afraid," though.

Because of the overeaching victorian / puritan based laws against being nude in public is ingrained into the our laws of public behavior, as a nudist I disagree with these antiquated laws and believe we should have the right to be as nature intended and be free in mind, body and soul to explore our humanity with one another because while one is nude with others as in friends or even strangers all hangups of our everyday life in the material world and self imposed feelings of be ashamed of our bodies and inhibitions about meeting and communicating with each other disappear completely into having no restrictions. being nude is truely the best way to be at peace and happieness with each other because none are hiding whom they really are. Nudity is Freedom from things that hold the human species back in self confidence and realization of a peaceful paradise.

"People" aren't afraid to be naked in public. In certain cultures, the nudity taboo is associated with shame. In certain cultures, it's not. We just happen to live in a culture that is very body conscience. It's ridiculous, it makes no logical sense, and yet....people in our culture simply aren't comfortable with themselves.

I don't know about anyone else but I would so not want to see gross bodies splayed from one place to another! The thought makes my eyes water!
