I believe in Christianity. I believe because I was living in a total nightmare from between the ages of 16 and 21. Imagine having the worst moment of your life played over and over again for five years. That's what it felt like for me. There were numerous diseases in my family, including bipolar, ocd, agoraphobia, panic/anxiety disorder, alcoholism, drug use, abuse, other addictions and many other horrible things going on. My Dad almost died because of a rare genetic disease that deteriorated his body. He was in and out of the hospital for a year and I hardly ever saw him. My brother and I were alone almost all of the time and were very hungry and sometimes starved. We didn't have any other family near us. I didn't have any friends. After my Dad recovered from his illness which took a couple of years, he became an alcoholic and started to hang out with people half his age and did drugs and never seemed to want to be at home. He didn't want to work or do anything, but be around those people and go to bars. He started to smoke and being addicted to that. He started to become addicted to gambling. So many problems.I rejected God because I got to the point in which I thought that He doesn't exists and that if He does then He doesn't care about me, and turned to methods in order to help myself. Nothing worked. I eventually sought out different religions to help me. Nothing worked. Nothing worked until I was able to believe in Jesus and accepted Him as my LORD and Saviour. I committed myself to Him and He healed me along with my family. My life did a total 180 and I have gotten so much ever since then. I have seen so many other similar testimonies and amazing things that have happened to people after truly repenting and giving their lives to Christ. I have found all of what the Bible says to be the truth and I was a skeptic before. There are no contradictions and lies in it. It's all true. Everything that it says would happen to me, happened to me. That's why I believe in it. That's why I have the confidence to say that it's the utter and complete Truth. Jesus Saved me and I mean He literally saved me. That's all there is to it.

Man searching?
Well, I'm female, but I'll answer anyway.
If I had to classify myself, I would say I'm a combination of Christianity (believe Christ redeemed us to God), Buddhism (meditation rocks, reincarnation is a reality), and Wiccan (I believe in a female Holy Spirit, and in astral projection).
Weird, I know.
Oh, and as for why I believe what I do...it's a combination of things as well:
I have been reading more and more historical and religious books lately. Scriptures vary, though there is wisdom to be gleaned from most of the things that are considered to be holy, whether Christian or not (Buddhist, Muslim, Hinduist (?), etc.).
There is evidence that Jesus lived, and died as described in the Bible. This gives the story credence, plus I feel it in my soul to be fact.
Different life experiences. I've had some noteworthy experiences that I would consider supernatural. We all have experienced our individual encounters (or not), and have some opinions based on those.
IN addition, quantum physics is disproving some of the accepted (by scientists) laws of time and space, etc; even some of Einstein's work. One of the things that seems to be apparent from the research is that there are numerous other dimensions. It has also been discovered that light is intelligent.
There are many other reasons, but for brevities sake I will stop here. Suffice it to say, I do not align myself with any group, other than truth-seeking Christian. My allegiance is to God, and Him only.

Honestly, I was unsure for a very long time about my religion and I have done a ton of exploring. I have looked into everything from Christianity to paganism. When my husband went into the military, I just started praying out of no where, not to anyone in particular, but I put my thoughts and feelings out there, and pleaded to no one for our lives to end up right. I don't have a "religion" per se, but I do believe in something higher than me. I think that there is a lot of personal research to be done before deciding whether or not you can put yourself into a group. And, if you are like me, I have been searching for years and I have my beliefs, I am confident in what they are. I think setting yourself into a group isn't the answer, its seeking out what you need and setting into action what you need to do for yourself.

The second answerer is a christian, and her religion is Christianity.
I am non-religious. I don't have a set of rituals, I have taken the position that there is probably not a God. I am an atheist, but atheism is not a religion, it's the lack of religion rather.
I believe that there is not a God, because there is not substantial evidence that one exists.
Edit: Well, that's really cute dze. So I am going to hell because I don't have this knowledge that can't be shared with me.

I would not call my belief in God, a religion. I do believe in God and following his wisdom and example. Why? because God is Love, and has reasons for things beyond human understanding. I have read and studied about other religions and many of them at that. There are many people who call themselves christians, but are quick to be narrow minded and racists, but there are real christians who know God is love. God wants people to do the right thing for our own good. For instance, God does not want us to act foolish and start fights and wars for no reason. God does not want people to sleep around because that's an easy way to catch something. God wants us to not let ourselves get exploited by the sex industry by trickery of easy money. God wants us to not be alcoholics so we don't kill ourselves or someone else. God also want us to not be drug addicts so we don't ruin our lives or anyone elses. God loves us all where a lot of religions abandon us and say pull yourself out of the well. This is from a guy who probably could have out drank the Guitar Wolf guys, beside everybody in my city of now over 700,000 in our metro area & growing. Besides that I loved partying with musicians and celebrities just for fun. I even wondered about and looked into the black arts for a while. I definitely knew there was a definite difference between white and red rose in the wiccans' sects for example. I don't care for that lifestyle any more, it left me feeling pretty empty. God, love and family with a science career that doesn't interfere with having a family are better things that I consider more important to me now.

Mahayana Buddhism. I believe the only reason I am here is to help others, that most religions have something of value in them and that I should question anything that Buddhism teaches and only accept it if it proves to be true or helpful to me after much contemplation and study. I follow the 4 noble truths, the eightfold path and the 5 precepts. I was drawn to Buddhism because of its belief in ahimsa (do no harm) and the encouragement it gives to question its beliefs and study other faiths for answers.

Agnostic. I don't know if there's a god, and there are many people telling me different things about god, but I have reason to distrust all of them. I pray for an answer and get none, so I must admit I know nothing about god. All I can do is guess. But what I do believe is that any god who would condemn an ignorant person for guessing wrong is not to be worshipped, even if he is all powerful.
