Is it the fear of being judged that is driving you towards another religion? It should not frighten you as all sins can be forgiven by God, as long as you ask for forgiveness and repent while you are still alive. Our God is a God of love and His mercy is abundant. We only need to call on His Name, ask for forgiveness and change from our sinful ways. Not all sins will result in going to hell. I am a Christian but I am not against any other religion. We will all be in front of God one day, as your good friend has told you. Believers of the true God who are obedient to Him will enter His kingdom for eternal life. There is no other way to get there except through Jesus. Jesus died for our sins on the cross so that we can enter heaven. So....maybe you would like to consider talking to a priest or pastor at your local church and I am sure he will tell you much more than what I can write here. God bless you.

Here's the deal: being a Christian means believing that no one, no matter how good they are, can be good enough to get into heaven. BUT, because God loves you SOO much, He sent His son Jesus, to earth to die for YOU, so that you may go to heaven when you die. That's what GRACE means.
That's it, pure and simple. Anything else you hear is stuff man has added on.
Study Buddhism all you want, but don't just convert based on what your friend says. That's too much of an emotional decision.

I'm Catholic.. but anyway, yeah it is something in those lines. Actually, if you're not in the book of names or something like that, you can't enter Heaven.
But does it really matter? Just be a good person and don't do others wrong. It's basically what's taught in every religion.
Just live a harmonious life.
See, I don't even know if I'll get to heaven, or eternal life, or whatever name and state other religion refer it as. I've sinned. I know I have sinned. I am not perfect. But I haven't killed anyone or did something really horrible.. so I'm praying I have a chance.
I'm not a devout Catholic. Doesn't mean I'm a bad person.. right?
(I actually think of converting too, as Catholics seem to be too strict and overanalyzing things.)

I'll tell you the plain truth. If you reject Jesus then you will go to hell because you chose to reject the only thing that can save you. Everyone is guilty of sin and in need of a Saviour. If you don't have the Saviour that is Jesus than you can't be forgiven. It's as plain as that. I agree with what you're Christian friend said about being trialed.
On a further note, I have to say that I'm very concerned for you. It seems that you have been deceived by satan into believing in buddhism. You should be helping your buddhist friend to see the Saviour, not giving in to him. Maybe you don't fully understand Christianity and the vast amount of Truth in it. Please, don't choose death over Life! Please pray about this. I will pray for you and may God bless you and forgive you. Jesus loves you.
"There is a way that seems right to men, but its end is the way to death." (Proverbs 14:12)

The Bible tells us that all men (and women) are guilty of sin. If we were to pay the penalty for our own sins we would be sentenced to death this much is true.
However, what your friend failed to mention is that though you will one day stand before the almighty for your 'crimes' if you believe in Christ Jesus you will not be convicted. Thats right, think of it this way. You are before the judge and you are convicted and found guilty. Just when all hope is lost a man walks into the courtroom and takes upon himself your penalties. That man is Jesus. He died upon the cross so that we may be saved from our own transgressions.
We are given this even though we are undeserving of it. The grace of the Lord poured out upon us.
All you need to do to receive this gift is to honestly repent of your sins and seek the Lord and accept Jesus Christ as your savior. Thats it. Signed sealed and delivered (literally!).
Any other question just e-mail me and I'll try to get back to ya. Later days and God bless!

According to the vision, Christ’s Millennial Reign will be a time for judgment. The apostle John wrote: “I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and scrolls were opened. But another scroll was opened; it is the scroll of life. And the dead were judged out of those things written in the scrolls according to their deeds. . . . And they were judged individually according to their deeds.” (Revelation 20:12, 13) Notice that the basis for this judging is not what the person had or had not done before he died. (Romans 6:7) Rather, it relates to “scrolls” that are to be opened. A person’s deeds performed after he learns the contents of the scrolls will furnish the basis for determining whether his name is written in “the scroll of life.”

what the Bible says is this:
when you die, your spirit and your soul leave your body. you're spirit goes up, back to the Lord. your soul will either appear in Heaven or Hell based on whether you made Christ your Lord and Savior or not and strived to be Godly and live in His love.
if you made it to Heaven, you face no judgement. you await the New Heaven and New Earth that shall come and you shall spend eternity there with the Lord. if you ended up in Hell, for rejecting Christ as your personal and the only Lord and Savior, then you shall burn there for a time until the judgement of the earth is complete. then your soul will reunite with your body and you will be physically stand trial before the throne of God and be cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, along with Hell, death and the kingdom of darkness.
so yes, it's physical actually.

No.. It dosent say that exactly. It says that there will come "A day of judgement" and then all souls will be held accountable for there sins. ONE Judgment Day for ALL. and somthing the bible dosent explain, That we wont just be judged for the way we have lived our lives, But we will be judged also for what we do in the afterlife while we are awaiting "judgement".

Yes...in so many words, that is what the Bible says...
Jesus Himself said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. NO ONE comes to the Father EXCEPT through me."
The Bible is also crystal clear that NO ONE is perfect and holy like God...and thus ALL people are considered "sinners". And all people have sinned...told lies, stolen things, lusted after other people, etc, etc....
And so, the Bible says that God...who is JUST, is obligated to penalize sins.
If a person received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, this means they believe He died for theirs sins on the cross...and they are forgiven of their sins...as God (who is just) punished Jesus for the sins of that person.
-
It sounds like you are unaware of these things...so I would question whether you are really a Christian.
I don't say this to be "mean" or "harsh" or "judgemental"...just matter-of-factly.
Just because your parents are Christians...or claim to be Christians...and/or just because you were raised a "Christian", and/or just because you go or have gone to church...does not mean that you really are a Christian.
To be a Christian, you must believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins...as the only God-accepted sacrifice. And you onviously don't believe this, for you are thinking about converting to Buddhism!
People who "convert" from Christianity...were never Christians to begin with!
I pray the Lord open your eyes, heart, and mind...!
