Personally to me, Dim Mak is a real style. Though the thing about "CHI" is fake.

Using pressures points against an opponent works though. My friend has tested it on me. I tried to face punch him. He ducks and quickly jabbed my arms with his fingers!

I went to some accupuncture guy he recommended me to go to because my arm still hurt like hell. I was still astonished. Half of this is real and fake. The parts about the "mysticism and chi" is garbage. But the fighting style is real.

Some people are to stubborn to go look at what accupuncture really is and just call something with a part in it "made up", fake.

People in weirdo crazy villages say, "antbites are from some demon", yes that part is fake, but antbites are real.

Pressure point fighting is ofcourse real. Just ask anybody who's had their arm or leg numbed from hitting one....or from somebody who's passed out because of a chokehold that cut off the blood flow to their head.

This is potentially very dangerous as even a slight mishit could end up in somebody going to the hospital or what not. Though, this would be for pressure points involving bloodflow to the heart or brain more so than a pressure point in an arm or leg.

I'd rather rely on a knife point to hit the pressure points. lol

Dim Mak and pressure points can be somewhat effective but not to the extent that their demonstrations lead you to believe. First, people are much bigger, stronger, more heavily muscled than forty years ago; much less two or three hundred years ago. So it is harder to hit those points and have the real affect that they once may have had. Not only that but you have primary and secondary pressure points and only the primary ones really cause sudden, intense pain and some people have a very high threshold to pain. They also often times rely on your opponent being somewhat relaxed to work effectively and once they tighten up their effectiveness is greatly reduced. Against an untrained, semi-relaxed opponent they can be effective for a very brief period for you to gain the upper hand and maneuver them into a joint lock, choke, submission, throw, reap, or to then lash out with a strike or punch. Also some pressure points rely on you having very strong hands, fingers, and thumbs and developing that strength by doing various exercises. Most of that type of strength training is not done in martial arts classes today due to shorter classes and more time needed to develop more effective skills.

Another example of how martial arts has changed just due to the change in size and stature is front kicks with the toes. In traditional Japanese/Okinawan karate this technique was taught but those people who were very small and had very short feet and toes. They would train and develop their feet and toes to do this without breaking them. It is emphasized less now for them as well as taller westerners and making contact with the ball of the foot is emphasized moreso now.

Its hard to say you know, personaly i feel better after i get accupuncher so I keep going there, if it works than keep going if it doesnt stop

Dim Mak I have no experience with. I highly HIGLY doubt that it works and so i would not trust my life with Dim Mak not only because i dont believe it will work but also if it does work than you have just murdered someone and that is not good

Yes there are points in the body that hurt alot and you dont need to study pressurepoints to learn the main ones like the groin throat and eyes, and in a fight it would be dificult to apply the points and the adrenalin running through a persons body will nullfy most of them

I'm sure pressure points work. I've personally found some pressure points that really works. But there are two main problems that puts dim mak in the " useless' " category;

1st-) the pressure points are not that effective, I mean you cannot paralyse somebody by just touching those points.

2nd) even if you know the right point, it is almost impossible to hit there in a fight. And if you cannot hit in the "bulls eye" , dim mak won't work...

so,briefly, there is no point in dim mak...
