I just remember that when I was a Christian, we spent most of our time singing songs and praying.

And when we did things to help people, we always made sure to do a bit of indoctrination in exchange for helping them.

The Christians around here were raising funds to send Bibles to the tsunami victims and the victims of Hurricane Katrina. It seemed like they only wanted to help others believe like they do. I gave thousands of dollars to the tsunami victims and victims of Katrina. I wonder which they found more useful.
Wanzanna- I am a regular contributor to Feed the Children and St Judes. Danny Thomas (founder of St Judes) was a Catholic. You have stated before that you do not believe Catholics are Christians. Why do you call him a Christian when it suits your needs?
EDIT- Wanzanna, I stand by my words Your own words on the Catholic Faith- Member since: February 22, 2007

sure , but if they ask me about the church should I lie?
can they show me anywhere in the bible where ...
praying to saints is ok...
Mary is equal to Jesus and God...
baptism of babies...not dedication like Jesus received and he was baptized at 30 years old.
calling priest Father..
salvation thru a church not Christ alone...?
Guess Wanzanna couldn't handle the truth. She deleted her answer!

Let me quote you & answer it that way...

Why do Christians spend so much time pushing their propaganda rather than helping people?

I didn't realize "I" do that....

You know, go give some blood rather than huddling in the church in prayer.

I do both, does that make me extra special? Nope!

If you're gonna fight against abortion then start a charity that supports single mothers.

Do that too.

Sell some of your extra bibles to feed the poor.

How about just giving money instead of having to sell anything to begin with? That count?

Go teach illiterate children how to read.

Do that & reading stories to ANY children is wonderful, not just the illiterate.

Build a homeless man a home.

I never built one per se, but I invited many into my home...count?

You obviously are not with the right Christians...ever heard of "Sunday Christians"? I'm Christian and they make even me mad...

You are looking at the wrong Christians then. You are most likely looking at what most of us Christians call 'cults' that go door to door trying to get you into their 'so called christian' organization but they are actually 'cults' and their religions do not fully line up with the Bible. They take it out of context and pick and choose the realities they wish to belive in or they add extra's to the Word of God (Bible) for their own benefits. I've been in lots of churches due to moving around a lot with my husband's job and every church we have ever been a part of was deeply involved with the poor, single mom's homes, mission work both local and overseas, free meals and groceries for homeless, free thrift stores for the needy, utility bill help for the poor, visiting old folks and prisoners regularly, etc. We never pushed propaganda. We went down to the beaches and into the slums with huge truckloads of goods for people who were in need. You should try it sometime, it will bless you immensely. You can find the true christians everywhere. We are the ones that are 'really' imitating Jesus.

Don't judge the many by the few that you know. Our fellowship does a lot to help out the community, including a weekly community breadline where people can get enough food for their families to last for at least a week , plus clothing, shoes and coats if they need it. Even job possibilities. And before you ask, no most that seek our help are not members of any church. And I know of many other fellowships that do the same. So don't spout off about what you know nothing at all about. How many of the above activities have you been involved in?

Because religion ultimately only causes chaos. The whole Christian system has so many flaws it's not even funny. So many contradictions and horrible people, but also some of the best people in the world. Religion isn't everything and people need to realize that. Why do people respect Christians who don't do anything except go to church more than Atheists that give blood and teach children how to read or build homeless people houses? We need to get our priorities in order.

Two things, First Christians do all of the things that you suggested in great abundance. Homeless, see Habitat for Humanity or the Salvation Army. Illiterate see Christian Record Braille Foundation; the Christian Literacy Project and Christian Literacy Associates. Extra Bibles, see Bibles for Missions; Single Parents should see almost any church's Community Services, any of the 100's of Dorcas societies or the Salvation Army.

Second, hand-in-hand with the commands to help people we are also to tell people about God's love for us. The two are inextricably linked. Charity is supposed to be a demonstration of God's love and we are supposed to tell people the source of that love.

Pushing our propaganda as you put it is a commandment of God to go and teach the world that the way of our Lord is a way of hope. And we do help others, we go to nursing homes, hospitals, we take food when someones family member dies, we send money, glasses, and bibles overseas to other countries. WE teach Christian girls how to be good moral influences on other girls. We don't just huddle in church and pray. A tornado went through our town and all churches came together and helped all in our community, wether it was Christian or non-christian.

When you make gross generalizations against someone, you go all out, don't you? Pal, if I had a tenth of the money that I've given to charities to feed and clothe poor and homeless people, I could retire real nice at the age of 46. The real question here is, why do people like you make such stupid assumptions about Christians?

Also, I'm AB+ blood type, so I can't donate blood. I've just donated massive amounts of money and time over the years as I previously stated. What, if anything, have YOU done to alleviate the misery and daily plight of humanity, hmmm????

True Christians do help people. That's what they're supposed to do. They are generous and loving and forgiving and understanding and all of those things. However, one of the ways that Christians help people is by helping them to receive Jesus and by doing that a person receives Life, Freedom, Truth, Love and the Kingdom of Heaven. This is very much helping people!

Why do you make such generalization about all Christians? I give blood, I am a school teacher so I educate children daily, every church in my area has free food and clothes closets for anyone that needs help. Our area has places for single mothers, and yes I donate money. I was raised to love and help others, and that is a form of spreading Gods word and love. If I could afford it, I would build someone a home! However, I am a school teacher so no extra money there. lol Best to You!!!!

Do your home work. There are many charity's that are run by Christians that help people of all faiths and those who have none.
All churches have food banks for those who do not have food.
I have seen with my own eyes, people come to our church and ask for food and when you try and give it too them , they really want money and when you tell them that you have food to give them if they are hungry, they do not want it. They usually have a kid in tow to pull at your heart strings, and you know that it is to support a drug habit. If they were really hungry, they would take the food.
And we have helped single mothers with clothing, food and shelter. We have tried and help the homeless get jobs and places to stay and they did not want them.
So you can get off your narrow minded high horse and talk about something you actually know about.
