depending on the ages/genders of the kids and whether they have pets, they could either a get a 3 BR apartment( Tower) or a 3 or 4 BR free standing home/Townhouse.

OCONUS, housing sticks to the rules about bedroom allotments: under 6 share a room regardless of gender, under 12 same gender share and 12 and up get their own room. no pets are allowed in the Yokota Towers( Cats are allowed in Yokosuka-Navy). However, there are plenty of Towers available and far fewer townhouses available, so the waiting list for those will be much longer. there are very few 4 BR units period, and they are shared with all paygrades.

I, personally, think the Tower apartments are nicer than the TH, even though the TH have yards. larger rooms, laid out better, but with small kids, having the yard might be better for her sanity.
