I am not in the army and his NCO called my house saying they were looking for him, and I said I did not know where he is. Should I keep pretending I dont know where he is, I should I tell them what I know.

You're not helping him by hiding him, and you're certainly not helping the military, either. If he wanted to be irresponsible, he shouldn't have joined the Army; it's not his place to pass judgment on the Commander in Chief or the war. He doesn't have to like either, but it's not his place to pick and choose his battles once he's in the Army. That isn't how the Army works. You sacrifice personal freedoms for the sake of protecting the freedoms of others when you take that oath. If he's going AWOL, he's not doing it because "he disagrees with Bush"; he's doing it because he's a coward. The Army will eventually find him, and can possibly hold you liable for harboring a fugitive. He dug this hole himself. If he disagreed with the president or the war, all he has to do is wait for his contract to be over, and be discharged honorably; what he is doing is dishonorable. If he gets in trouble for this--and he will, if he's AWOL--he's only got himself to blame, no matter what he says. The military's one of the few places left where you'll still be rewarded for good behavior and personal responsibility, and punished for bad behavior and irresponsibility. If he was doing something RIGHT, he wouldn't be in trouble, now, would he?
Call up his NCO and tell him where they can find that scumbag. If they're sensible, and if he's been in hiding long enough, they'll kick him out with a dishonorable discharge. We do NOT need trash like that in our military.

You will be doing this person a disservice if you don't turn him in, It will only get worse for him as time goes by. But it is up to you, better if you can talk him into doing the right thing and dealing with it right now that he is not in too much hot water..

Any AWOL should be reported. It just serves as a slap in the face to those who do serve (like me) if they are accepted for what they do.

He'll probably get mad at you, but you should turn him in away. It wasn't right for him to go AWOL.

No,. it will piss off your platoon sgt because then he has to spend his wekeends away from his family looking for your dumba$$ friend. Not to mention, you will be called to testify at his court marshall because you reported him...Heres the truth: hes not good enough for the military if he runs away...let him go.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO GAIN BY TELLING ON HIM? IF YOU ARE A FELLOW SOLDIER (AND i ASSUME YOU ARE) YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET PROMOTED, YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET AN AWARD YOU WILL BE LOOKED UPON AS SOMEONE THAT CAN NOT BE TRUSTED. YES HE WILL BE MAD AT YOU SO WILL YOUR ENTIRE PLATOON.
IF YOU ARE NOT IN THE SERVICE, WHAT DO YOU CARE? UNLESS YOU ARE JEALOUS OF HIM FOR SOME REASON.. I WAS IN THE ARMY A LONG TIME AND LOYALTY TO EACHOTHER IS THE FIRST THING YOU LEARN IN BOOTCAMP...YOU HAVE NO LOYALTY OBVIOUSLY BUT TO YOURSELF!

Sooner or later they will find out anyways but there are some consequences to turning him in depending his personality. The entire decision is on your hands no one else can tell you to turn him in or not it's entirely up to you

if you know where he is, you are harboring a fugitive, which is a federal offense. as a United States Citizen, you have an obligation to turn him in.
