Well the truth is always best and very admirable of you. But maybe you should tell him you got stranded in your home town somehow because the dui story sounds like you all were out partying. And you don't want him to think you missed work for that. You could always throw in the truth though.

Since I am a person who has firing ability where I work, here's what I would do:

Tell the truth. If you have a good work record and you are a dependable employee you most likely won't get fired. Bosses don't like good workers to quit and they won't fire you unless you really break company policy and have an excessive streak of bad performance. However, keep your nose clean for at least six months at work. Otherwise, this will come up and your chances of getting fired the next time you do something stupid will increase.

However, if you have pulled this stuff before or you are a bad employee with previous write-ups, you can kiss your job good-bye. Chances are if you are a habitual screw-up your boss is just waiting for the opportunity to can your butt. I know I always watch bad employees for a good chance to fire them. No call/No show would be one I would be just waiting to have fall into my lap with a bad employee.

i used to manage a convenience store, and i can tell you that a no-call-no-show would have gotten you fired immediately unless someone in your family died. not to be rude, but just because you went out with your friends and "forgot" to go to work, doesn't mean that the business stops running. when a manager puts you on a schedule, they are trusting you to be there at the time that it says. you might want to start looking for a new job.

well depends on their policy. but i wouldnt give him some big long excuse that really sounds made up even if its the truth to you. just tell him you honestly forgot. he dont need to know why or where you went. and dont u have a cell phone? why didnt they try to contact you? if you knew they tried and still ignored them and made no effort to make it back to work, then you deserve to be fired. but if its an honest mistake, then he may forgive you. just tell him you are sorry.

If you honestly forgot, then the best thing to do is tell the truth. You will probably get in some trouble but unless you've done it before, you probably won't get fired.
