I don't respect people based on their religion. I respect them based on their character.

Yes. However, I don't automatically respect someone simply due to their religious beliefs, although I'm a Christian myself. Fred Phelps also claims to be a Christian, and I think he's a sociopath. I have respect for the Christians I've seen feeding the poor, tending to the sick, helping the needy and dedicating their lives to helping their fellow man. The local homeless shelter is staffed by Christians who work very hard to make other people's lives better. But having said that, I'd respect these same traits in a non-Christian, as well.

Being completely honest- no. And I mean this in an in-general type way, not individuals.
How can I respect blind faith? I don't respect anyone until they have rightfully earned it. Yes, I do respect several Christians, but only after I know them personally. Religion doesn't have much to do with respect when it comes to individual people in my opinion.

I respect people on an individual basis. There are many Christians whom I respect. All of them don't force their religion down anyone's throat.

Not really. I have to fake it quite frequently, because they're everywhere and I don't get anything out of hasseling with them, but I feel like they've sold their intellectual honesty for a chance at heaven, and I haven't. None of my friends are Christians, and if one becomes a Christian, I ease them out of my social world the best I can. No, they're not all goobers or liars, but enough of them are that I don't care to ignore my instincts and find out whether a particular one is or not. After many years of them treating me much worse, I have the right and even the obligation to minimize their effect on my life. Besides, I'm sick of hearing about Jesus. Can you imagine what it's like for non-Christians? Every day we have to hear about Jesus, whether we want to or not. When people come up to me and ask, "Have you heard about Jesus Christ?" I tell them no, I've been frozen in a block of ice for over 2000 years and some scientists just thawed me out, but I fell behind on my payments while I was gone so I don't have time to hear about him now either, thanks and have a nice day.

Yes. I consider myself a Christian. Most are fine. It's the ones who want everybody else to believe exactly the way they do that are the problems. Usually they are the fundamentalists who believe everything in the bible is 100% accurate - but then they pick and choose which things they follow and ignore other parts.

Some of them, sure. But I have no respect for their religion.

I respect them as much as any other human being. Untill they open their mouth. Then that respect tends to fade.

I respect Christians who walk the talk and try to live as Jesus taught, helping the poor and what not.

Sure, why not?

As a non-believer i think it's normal to respect a person's believes.

And you can't tell what kind of person someone is by looking at his/her religion (or the lack of for that matter).

All gets clear after you get to know the person :)

I'm a Christian. I know that there are some who call themselves Christians who do not honor the Lord or live as though they know Him. But there are also those who daily try to live as He would have them do and sincerely hope and pray that others come to know Jesus.
