A friend recently gave me a bottle of vanilla vodka...I really don't like the taste of vanilla, though I love vodka. Can someone recommend a drink that would use the vodka without having the overly sweet taste of vanilla?

Watch out for to much sweets when making a good mix drink. Too much will give you a terrible hangover if you over do it. Over doing it is easy when mixing sweet taste into alcohol. I know from experience. First try just your vodka on the rocks...if it is too strong then add a little water. If something is still missing then add a taste that you might like. Try this in a small glass. Soda and vodka I am not sure of but vodka and juice is great. With the vanilla, maybe you could try a hint of soda but be careful.
