just out of curiosity, dont you remember anything from your own Bat-Mitzvah?

Thank you for taking the time out to email me, I am sorry that you did not get the opportunity to learn Hebrew as a child, but then again the same is true for my parents so I can empathize.

Though I think I can help you.

The key to a Bar/bat Mitzvah service is that the person is not really learning Hebrew, but learning how to pronounce the letters and words with ease.

As such all that is required is to be able to pronounce the words, you dont need to understand what you are reading.

I would suggest that you memorise the Hebrew Alphabet and learn how to pronounce words. That way you help your daughter with her own reading.

You won't be able to learn Hebrew quickly. It will take a long time to learn. Just let a Rabbi help her out. Surely the Rabbi would know more about a Bar Mitzvah then someone who is not a Rabbi? Hebrew is a very complicated language and is very hard to learn. The only place Hebrew is spoken is in Israel.

you can't. you have to study it for a long period of time, just like with any other language you'd want to learn. living outside of israel, it is even harder because of the lack of native hebrew speakers. one thing you can do is learn hebrew alongside your daughter. it would be a great way to bond.
