Daylight savings does NOT make the day longer or hotter.
Daylight savings would mean that the usable cool lighted hours in the morning would be better utilised.
In Queensland the sun setting at 8 would hardly make a difference. In Melb the sun would set at 8 if there was NO daylight savings.
Milk the cows or harvest the crop an hour later (which would really be the same time). Let our hard working farmers sleep in an hour!
Children would have lunch breaks BEFORE the hottest part of the day.
GET WITH THE PROGRAM QUEENSLANDERS! We need daylight savings- even if it is just in the south east.

I am against it my reasons are plain as listed below- I currently reside in sunny brisbane australia
1. Where would you draw the imaginery line if you dont draw it at the border? No matter if you say just SEQ then where does the line end north and west, sunshine coast, roma where? then everyone else will ***** and complain where ever you draw the line.
2. make it state wide and i can tell you from personal experince (the trial back in the 80s) that you will have kids going to school in the pitch black and it being sunny until 9pm at night in the tropics- i lived in the torres straits during the last trail and this was the case.
3. what are the benefits really? so the big cats of business can play golf after work, business seriously if you cant do it between 8 and 4 then what are the chances it cant wait till the next day? besides if you need to leave it till after 4 then it just shows how unprofessional and un organised you are.
4. surely you dont want the dairy farmers getting up at 3.30am (real time- of course thats 4.30 daylight savings time) instead of 4.30 am just to get all the milking done in time for the milk delivery deadlines, have pitty on our poor farmers please.
5. kids schooling (concertration wise) will suffer with longer days to play and less time to sleep due to the light factor.
6. those living on the gold coast will have to watch tv at the regular time instead of an hour earlier with programs being similaneously scheduled instead of 1hour time shift, got to love that if you miss the 6pm (daylight savings nsw) news you can catch the 6pm qld news. etc
you want me to go on?
p.s can you excuse my spelling i am semi illiterate today, had a big night at the ekka last night

Queensland should have daylight saving in the southeast but not in the north. It would be easy to draw a line allowing the majority of Queenslanders to enjoy the longer evenings. Western Queensland already has permanent daylight saving because they have to adjust their local time to Brisbane as the time zone for Queensland is based on 150°E.

Hey LR
We have daylight saving here in WA now - and most people either dont care if we have it or not - or they HATE it! Esp people with kids. I was a big advocate for it last year, but we dont really need it. I dont think it will stay on here after the 3 year trial.

I would love it... days get longer, as there are lots of things you can do in summer and it is fantastic to be with the rest of the East coast on the same time.
Fantastic opportunity for enjoying longer summer nights.

Not particularly. I personally don't see the point. We live in the 21st century where we have this thing called electricity so we don't have to go to bed when it gets dark. Making everyone get up an hour earlier doesn't make the day any longer. All it does is make it more difficult for some sections of the community, and I don't see anyone getting any particular benifit from it.
