There is essentially no difference in taste between glass or plastic bottled soft drinks.
Canned beverages however will take on a poor flavor if not drank by a certain time.
This is caused by a reaction between the acids in the soda and the metal in the can. Diet soda also will lose flavor more quickly than sugared sodas because the artificial sweeteners break down more rapidly than does high fructose corn syrup.
Coca-Cola, specifically, has different formulas for different geographic areas. Coke in Miami FL does not taste the same as Coke in Philadelphia. Additionally, the water source used at the bottling plant will effect the taste of the final product. Fountain soda will taste differently just about everywhere you go, especially if the resturaunt uses syrup mix instead of pre-made soda.
Some Coke formulas are also made with cane sugar. This will change the taste of the drink as well.

That is a good question. I think it must have something to do with the citric acid reacting with the aluminum. Or it could be that citric acid and other ingredients are broken down by ultra violet light in glass bottles. Maybe a chemist can fill us in.

Does it really taste different or do we just think it tastes different? Either way it's an interesting question.
