Carnival does not address the shoe issue specifically in their clothing guidelines. I would think you'd be OK with what you have stated above, but here's a little more just so you have a general idea.
"Casual attire is in order during the day. For one or two nights, a dark suit or formal attire is suggested . . . The dress code for other evenings ranges from sport coat and tie to casual resort wear. Shorts and T-shirts are not permitted in the dining room during dinner but are acceptable in the seaview bistro."
Hope this helps! Have a wonderful cruise!

I've been on one cruise and going on another in 24 days. The fist time I wore high heeled sandals with no problem. Probably will this time too. Have a great time and be prepared to gain a little weight as the eating is never ending, available 24 hours and free!!!!!

That would be perfect. Formal dinner is not meant to be a stuffy affair but an occasion for people to dress elegantly. If your open shoes with high heels go good with your dress and are comfortable, by all means wear them.
Now, if your husband or boyfriend wants to wear sneakers with his tuxedo, you could suggest that he should not do that - at least not white sneakers.

yes , you can wear any shoes you like but you must wear shoes. i have seen women in formal beaded gowns for dinner wearing flip flops. wear comfortable shoes and don't worry about it ! it's a cruise , you are on VACATION !

Yes, thats' what I wore, and it's fine. Make sure your shoes are comfortable enough for you to walk around in, because ships are large and to walk from one area to another, you need shoes you can walk in.

they just ask you to wear dress or slacks and blouse, but they don't specify shoes. I would just wear what made me feel good. most of all enjoy your cruise.
