To the person who mentioned Abreva, that cream is only used for outside cold sores.
For your cold sore I recommend Zilactin-B - at first when you put it on it stings but after the sting it creates a protection seal over the cold sore to heal it and soothe it.
Good Luck!

Herpes simplex virus (HSV-1) is what creates cold sores/fever blisters. Anyone could contract it just from sharing drinks, a shared spoon, shared chapstick, and by kissing anybody that is carrying HSV-1. The swollen red bumps might be considerably troublesome blisters that could turn up near the lip area, or even the inside of the mouth or nostril, on the face, or elsewhere on your body's skin.
They might flare up simply because of higher stress, the common cold, fever, low temperatures, certain foods, as well as an excess of sunlight. The area can start to burn, tingle, itch, then a sore could surface. The sore can dry out and make a yellow-colored crust. Cold sores can stay from 7 to 14 days. You could attempt to cover it up cold sores by using foundation, however that often will make it worse.
To eliminate cold sores, a person may go about using a cold sore special lotion, apply lip balm with sunscreen, use aloe vera, take echinacea, vitamins C and vitamin E, and totally preventing touching it. By simply adopting several changes in lifestyle, it can be doable to reduce them and even inhibit cold sores from coming back.

Cold sores usually go away on their own in about 2 weeks - but it sucks to still have them. If your cold sore doesn't go away after 3-4 weeks, have it looked at by a dentist ASAP - it could be something else, something worse.
In the meantime, depending on your tolerance for pain, you can:
1. Do nothing
2. Rub salt on it (OUCH)
3. Use a variety of poultices/herbal remedies to try to speed up the process (results may vary)
4. Keep a whole clove (clove as in the dried spice) between your lip and your gums to relieve the pain. Cloves have a chemical compound called eugenol that is a naturally occuring analgesic. Incidentally, dentists use this same chemical -- eugenol -- to manage pain for certain conditions such as a dry socket after an extraction.
Whatever you do, do NOT keep a tablet of aspirin between the cold sore and your gums - it will burn the lining of your lip and gums and make it worse!

I had the exact same thing before. I used a mouthwash called Peroxyl. I got it at Wal-Mart. The main active ingredient is Hydrogen Peroxide, and you can use this as a mouthwash as well. So it's just up to you. Peroxyl does taste a bit better though. I had the cold sore for 3 days, and then when I used this, the next day it started going away.

Cold sores are caused by the herpes virus. Many of us already have the cold sore virus dormant in our bodies, and never have a flare up of cold sores. We contracted it as children, as it is a very common virus, and children pick it up easily as they often share food and drinks, and may be less concerned about hand washing and hygiene. Cold sores can be transmitted even when the person does not have a cold sore, though it is less likely to happen then.
remember that you can remove genital warts by surgery, freezing, laser, acid or cream but genital warts can reappear again and again because genital warts appears when your immune system is weak!
I got diagnosed with herpes type 2 about seven years ago, when I was still in college and had a stupid one-night stand. However, Not only was I able to remove all traces of the herpes virus from my system in less than three weeks, but I was also able to start dating again!
