I'd consider being a summertime nanny. And, by the way, the fact that you are an honors student goes a long way with parents who don't want some dingbat taking care of their kids. Anyway, the parents of grade school aged kids who both work full time typically have to stick their kids in daycare/daycamps which keeps them from having playdates, taking swimming lessons, ballet class, etc. So, depending on what the area you live in is like, parents would LOVE to get a nanny for the summer so their kids can just be kids. Will you drive? Have access to a safe car? That's a plus. Good for you for thinking about it now; you can get CPR/First Aid certified over the winter to make yourself more marketable. I even know some stay-at-home moms who share a college aged nanny over the summer just so they can have a day off to go on errands, out with friends or whatever without the kids. One will use the girl Mondays, another Tuesdays, etc.

Get a part time job as soon as you are able. Fast food places are always looking out for staff. You might find it difficult though as there are a lot of people out of work that need jobs to live also looking for work. Suggest you walk along your local shopping centre and call in on EVERY shop and ask the manager, only the manager, if they have or expect to have any jobs available during the summer holidays. Best of luck. You deserve to find something because you are willing to work, unlike a lot of other work shy people. Getting a job, whatever it is, will look good on your CV in a few years when you are seeking a full time career job.

Teller at a bank. You learn the true value of money, its a good start to any resume, help with college funds for when that time comes, and $10/hr starting for most. Who can beat that!?

Where I live, the community college will train you on how to become one. Could be where you are too.

Just be sure to look around, b/c some wont hire until 17, but the state banks and CU's will be more lienant.

as for the water and babies...um....MayB weekends?

Try to be a lifeguard or since you like to baby sit maybe you snould try to work at a summer camp. But the down side most summer camps train you for the first few years and in addiction all together $ less then minium wage. But at least your having fun and plus you can do some swiming to. Why not have it all.

My teenage cousins work for the Summer Recreation program. You can call your town hall and see if they have anything like that for kids. They play games with them, do sports, water fun, field trips etc. Also the other suggestions people gave like babysitting, day care, lifeguard, YMCA, etc are all good too!

Wawa?

ahah! I'm just kidding, sweetheart.

Maybe you should work as a lifeguard at a pool! You love kids, and water, so this goes great together! But I'm not quite sure being an honor's student has to do with it. [;

Get something low level in a field you might want to go to college for, or something that looks better on college applicatons, something you could also turn into a school project or something meaningful or even something that stands out.
