First, understand that we have more to fear from within our own government than from beyond our borders.

The majority of new enlistees join merely for economic reasons. Many coming from economically disadvantaged areas of the US. Some have few alternatives in which to escape poverty.

It seems that it is becoming much more difficult to find new recruits even given the increased incentives. No wonder! After hearing about how the American public as well as the rest of the world are appalled by our military actions is bad enough, but when one learns of the amount of casualties and deaths on a Daily basis, one has to seriously weight the risks.

Now, it seems so difficult, if not impossible, to believe anything that our government tells us. So why would anyone want to join? Who wants to kill or risk their life for no reason? And, to even think young Americans were even drafted against their will to fight and perhaps die in a small insignificant country called Viet Nam.

Remember, the uncontrolled power that has been unleashed upon others may be just as easily turned upon ourselves.

Personally, I didn't do it for any ethical or moral reasons. I just went forward into the recruiting office and just never saw a reason to turn back.

And I'm glad I joined by the way.

If you are looking for an excuse why you haven't had the guts to sign up, forget it. People, men and women sign up because they want to; they want to serve thier country, many look on it as a rite of passage into adulthood. That explains the disdain they have for those who have not served. I'm with them.

I oppose the Invasion of Iraq have nothing but praise for the troops.

in 1963 J.F.K. was killed in the streets of Texas. i joined the navy shortly after that because i believed our government that russa had something to do with it. of course now i know better. the financial and political powers in the u.s.a killed J.F.K. in order to answer you i have to say that regardless of the political reason that freedom is not free. freedom costs us all a great deal. some will pay with their life. some with limb. you are able to read this because we are still a free nation. if you do not understand this simple point then America is doomed.

To defend America's liberty and freedom. Do not fight unprovoke wars, wars that does not protect America's interests or wars that have no impact on national security. Get our troops home to defend our borders and not waste their lives in a foreign land.
