I heard if you elininate red drinks (kool-aid, cherry drinks, ect.) it will calm you kid and eliminate slight stuttering. Anyone heard of this???

I have never heard of that one. The red dye wouldn't have anything to do with stuttering. If someone is prone to stutter, I guess a high intake of sugar and/or caffeine could make them hyper and cause their stuttering to show up more. Check www.stutteringhelp.org and see what you find.

Never heard of it. I was a stutterer around ages 4-5-6. I outgrew it. I don't think that red dye was that common back in the early 70's. We didn't drink kool-aid that often and the only red food I can remember having as a child was jello. I think its purely genetic. Two of my kids stuttered at the same age as me, the 12 year old outgrew it and and the 5 year old began about 6 months ago. My 9 year old never stuttered and I'll have to wait and see on the 2 year old. My kids don't consume much red dye at all.

I work with children with speech delays/disorders, and I would not say that this is a reputable "remedy" for a child with stuttering. Stuttering is not caused by sugar-high drinks... it is a neurological malfunction between the brain and the muscles of the mouth.

Red Dye 40 has been linked to behavioral problems in kids--not sure about the stuttering. Dyes are nasty, awful stuff to have in food.

The red part is pretty much dye/food colouring, so that doesn't make sense.
Interesting, I just read other peoples answers, I never heard that before. You learn something new every day!

There are allergies and reactions to food dyes - like red #5. I suspect theres more truth to this, than first read as kind of a goofy question.

Nope. There's no truth to it. probably more to do with sweet sugar laden drinks making kids hyperactive and prone to more stuttering.
