best case - I would try and keep whiskey - 80 proof and above at room temperature.
it's alcohol - 80 proof - 40% - it won't go bad
if properly sealed, since it's 40% alcohol it will NOT permit bacterial growth - will not go bad.
What could happen is, if the bottle is not properly sealed - the alcohol could evaporate - and in this sense it would no longer be whiskey and would go bad.
Anything that is 100 proof - 50% alcohol (Yukon Jack) and above is flammable - should not be stored in the trunk of a car in a glass bottle.

Yes, when that bottle is shaken a few times, there is danger of it exploding, from gas buildup inside the bottle.
When I was dating my wife, my father in law made some Elderberry Wine. He gave me a gallon jug full, so I put it in the trunk. I had my gf with me, and drove about 8 miles, and heard a gigantic BOOM. I thought that a tire had blown, but when I stopped and investigated, it was that gallon jug of wine. My trunk was wet everywhere, and broken glass was all over the trunk. I never transported any wine in the trunk, after that.

Yes...that's why bootleggers invented NASCAR. It is really hot in the south and the moonshine would go bad if they kept it in the trunk for too long.

oh yes... always keep alcohol in a cool, dark place. with low humidity also.

erractic conditions spoil alcohol pretty fast.

alcohol doesn't like much motion either. :D

besides, according to most laws.. it's best you keep the booze as far away from any vehicle.. as much as possible anyways.
