Do a lot of 200 and 400 meter sprints. About once per week do a long run of 3 or more miles. Do sprints that day too. Rest one day a week.

hey im gonna be a junior and really while your running try to keep an easy stride the first lap staying with the front pack which usually ends up being like 3 people and start opening your stride a little bit more into the second lap and as you get into the last 200m start your run close to a sprint and jsut give a dead sprint the last hundred that helps me a lot and my freshman time was like 2:08 and i never payed attention to my sophomore times cause i only ran the race two or three times but yea i hope this helps

i would say run sprints everyday make them vary though between 100s 200s and 400s. then maybe 3 times a week run a moderate 3-4miles along with your sprints just to keep your endurance up and to stretch out. then maybe once every other week run an 800 just to see where you are. dont worry if your time isnt exactly where you want though cuz your in training by the time track season is i think you could easily be in the high 2:40s low 2:50s. good luck.

well thank you for listening to my answer. now you should do 400 & 200 meter sprints like the guy above said and do a couple of 5 mile runs once in a while. If you can run for 5 miles then you can run 800 meters rite? thats how i think of it!
also drink a lot of water the day you workou!

well what my coach has me do is 4 sets of 800's to build our endurance.. yea it sounds crazy but it works honestly it does. i dropped down from a 2:17 to a 2:06.. i believe it realy works u should try it at least once and see how it affects ur skill.
