Use a pumice stone on wet feet to avoid over scrubbing you skin.
Pumice is a volcanic rock & very abrasive. The water will help soften the thick, flaky skin on the soles of your feet & help the stone scrub it away more easily. You can either soak your feet in a foot bath beforehand or you can use the pumice after a shower & rinse your feet again.
Apply a thick moisturizer before going to bed. Wearing socks will help it sink in.

You use a pumas stone only after you've soaked your feet for quite sometime in a basin of very warm water that you've also put moisturizers in. It will soften your feet and then allow the pumas stone to exfoliate the dead skin.
I highly recommend you use a liquid callus remover. My feet really aren't bad, but I just LOVE for them to be very soft. I've tried it on the heals of my feet and it works waaaaayyyyy better than anything else I've every tried. You put it on, leave it on for about 3-5 minutes and then use a file or pumice stone to buff it away. Believe me you'll get better results with this stuff.
Look for it at either drug stores or beauty supply stores.

You can use a pumice stone on either wet or dry feet, but you'd probably do better to use a foot scrub instead after you've soaked your feet in very warm water for about 10 minutes. THEN go for a foot scraper of some kind (I don't like pumice stone, it tends to chip off rather than soften the feet).
At night, coat your heels and bottom of your feet with vaseline and put on thick socks. It'll soften your feet so much.

RE:
When to use a pumas stone?
I have really bad heels and desperatly need to get rid of all this dry, flakey, grossness that has taken over my feet. My question is, do you use a pumas stone on wet feet or on dry?

You can do it either or. I find wet to be better.
Let your feet get wet in the bath or shower and let the warm water saturate your skin, wet the stone and rub it gently in straight lines or circular motions along and over your heels. Dry your feet thoroughly and put on lotion and socks. This will help lock the moisture into the newer skin and the socks will hold what doesn't absorb into your feet against the skin. I do this once a week and it helps.

wet. it works best if you take your shower and wash and everything and then you use the pumice stone at the end of the shower because then the skin has had the maximum amount of time to soften up. make sure when you're using it that you keep rinsing it off to get off the dead skin and afterwards, put on some thick moisturizer (or even vaseline!) and then wear socks to bed. that'll help lock in the moisture. good luck! i know how gross the bottoms of your feet can get....trust me haha

It is supposed to be wet when you use it, but it could be dry too. Try using it in the foot tub or a bowl of water with bubbles in it. let the stone soak for a few minutes, and then scrub your heels and the bottom of your feet. Good Luck, Helga
