Im 17 really bored so im thinking about taking some martial arts classes .
Any recommendations ?

Both are good arts so I think it comes down more to what you are looking for and which school appeals to you most. I would go and watch a few classes at each and then decide. That way you are more informed and can make a better decision based on what you are looking for.

Depends on what you are looking for. I like Jiu Jitsu better because it is more cerebral, like a chess match !! Every move has many counters both offensively or defensively.

Jiu Jitsu, for sure. Unless you want to do 20 front kicks for each leg, then sidekicks, then punches from the horse stance...it's just not practical, or very fun

There are different types of jiujitsu and different types of karate. More details are needed. And no, not all martial arts are created equal... don't listen to anyone that tells you that.

I'm lucky that I don't have to choose because my instructor teaches both. I'd have chosen karate anyway because all that swimming in high school gave me a fast kick.

You should give them both a try and decide what you like best. Not every stile works well for everyone. Both are good and it all depends on what you like most and what fits you best
