i have a dental check-up tomarrow and feel i need braces. i am at the point where they told me to wait a few years. im 14 it has been a few years. i jut ant perfect teeth and hate being picked on. how do i try to persuade the dentist to refer me to an orthodontist? kind of like a sob story. yea braces ae dorky, but crooked teeth are way worse. i feel it will affect me in my jobinterviews. i feel gross like really gross. what should i say? pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee help.mom wont take me w/out referal

YOUR MOM WON'T GO TO AN ORTHODONTIST W/O A REFERRAL, BUT YOUR DENTIST HAS A REASON WHY HE HASN'T REFERRED YOU YET.
HAVE YOUR MOM IN WITH YOU TO SEE THE DENTIST AND HAVE A REQUEST TO GET BRACES. IF THE DENTIST HAS A LEGITIMATE REASON WHY YOU SHOULD NOT GET BRACES, HE CAN TELL BOTH OF YOU AT THE APPOINTMENT.

Just ask. You're 14 yrs old, your mom doesn't have to be in the room with you anymore unless you want her to. Then, you tell the dentist the story and there you have it. All you have to do is ask.
