I know somebody who is going to college. She is double-majoring in Voice - Opera, and Medicine. She plans to use being a doctor as her back up career.

Yes. I know an ear, nose, and throat specialist who has a bachelor's degree from USC in bassoon performance and was going back to school to work on his master's in music but decided to become a doctor instead. I also know of two dentists who both play bassoon professionally on the side. A lot of doctors have great musical talent. It just goes to show you that making music does make you smarter.

What kind of music? Classical, pop, country?

Just for example, Cleve Francis, a cardiologist, tried a country music career. He was very good-- I liked his music. He's back practicing medicine now, I understand.

Dr. Albert Schweitzer was also a talented violinist, and many of my doctor friends also sing, play an instrument, etc.

Yes, actually 2, one is my kid's family doc and is quite a good guitar player, and also Buddy Brayfield ( originally from Ozark Mountain Daredevils) is now a successful doctor in my area... still comes to open jams, and takes extra good care of us musicians here when we need him!

My aunt married a doctor who specialised in immunology, he used to play in a punk rock band in his youth. Also in the city I live in there is a covers band that's comprised entirely of doctors.

Dr. Einstein played the violin, I had a Dr. that played piano, and another one who played keyboard, their was one that I had a while ago who played my instrument, classical guitar !
