What is wrong with eating the vein in a prawn???

Why is there such a big fuss about taking the vain out of the back of a prawn, is there that much of a difference??? Would anything bad happen to me if i eat it???

I dont actually pick the vein out and eat it i just eat it with the prawn and i cant taste it
