Well this is how i do it, its really good:

1/2 cup soft margarine
1 (10 ounce) package frozen strawberries, thawed
1/3 cup powdered sugar

Whip margarine until creamy; drain juice from thawed strawberries. Gradually add berries to margarine, beating well after each addition. Beat in the sugar. Allow to cool in the refrigerator.

A yummy and different topping for waffles, muffins or anything else you can think of even toast.

1 cup unsalted butter
3 tablespoons strawberry jam
1 tablespoon orange juice

1. Whip 2 sticks (1/2 lb.) unsalted butter in a mixer until fluffy.
2. Blend in 3 tablespoons good strawberry jam and 1 tablespoons fresh orange juice.
3. Chill 4 hours to blend flavors.
4. NOTE: This delicate spread taste better if mixed and chilled at least 4 hours (or overnight) before serving.
5. Each recipe makes 1 cup.

I wouldn't know the exact recipe you are looking for, but I bet you can come pretty close by looking up an apple butter recipe and using strawberries as a straight sub.
