it is in the EU FREE TRADE allowed within the Eu but after 12 mths in spain you will have to register the car there and also convert your driving licence to a spanish one if you intend to live there permanetly.
you have no forms to fill in to take your car to spain it is just like driving from england into scotland no formalities at all but make sure you have the log book test cert insurance the same as in england. after 90 days I believe you will have to insure with a spanish insurance company as your basic cover on your english insurance will expire

If you intend to keep the car in Spain, you will need to export it and register it to your Spanish address on arrival.

If you are only going to stay in Spain for a short time (e.g. a holiday, or a few months studying) then return the car to the UK, then you will not need to export or re-register it.

We the uk that is are part of the EU there are no borders between EU states going to Spain is the same as going to France , the driver must be insured that means to insure a car you must own it or be a named driver most insurance companies have a 90 day EU driving clause as standard cover but check and advise them your going abroad if returning within 90 days with same car its not exported .
On 25-07-07 i bought a car on 29-07-07 i drove it to Holland but i was told best to take log book with me as i could not get log book back from DVLA in case of any problems at customs log book must be filled in ,in your name post it when you get back. Log book to and from DVLA can take 4-6 weeks..

Check if you can use a rhd in Spain . You would be better to buy a lhd in Spain as it will be easier to drive and get parts for.
