Benadryl cream or hydrocortisone cream. Both work well for bites like that.

Common ideas are to make an X with your fingernail into the top of the bite, holding each part of the X for about 15 sec. Make it seem painful but do not cut the skin. This causes a lapse in the nerves that run near the bite and connect to the brain telling it that the bite itches and it can releave the itch temporarily. Since it is an alergic reaction, get some topical benedril for it and apply it as often as the carton says. Also, freezing it with ice cubes also helps. There is a 'bite' stick you can get in the pharmacy section of your department stores that has an alcohol base to it. It stings when you apply it on the bite but helps take the itch out. When we were kids, we used vicks on them and it really worked. We rubbed it into the bite so it penetrated down into it like you would do with deep heat.

You aren't supposed to do this, but it's a trick I learned at summer camp when I was a kid...........You "X" them.....Take your fingernail and make an "X" in the bite.

Doctors discouraged us from doing this, as it really only spreads the venom, but it makes it feel better.
