You need to sit down and calmly talk with your Mom. Is there a school counselor that could join your conversation? Is your Mom pushing you because she was in all Honors when she was in high school? Does she want you to be valedictorian and you need honors classes to meet that goal? Why does she feel the need to push you to take honors English? Please try to talk calmly with her to find out her reasons. You will need a strong back ground in English for a career in math and sciences. I don't know if you need to necessarily take Honors English for that though. If she still insists you take Honors, she really can't make you, but if she insists then ask the teacher for extra help, get a study buddy, and whatever other help you can find. Good luck.

Your mom can't make you sweetie. You can request to be taken out of that class into a different class by your counselor. Honors is really hard and when you want to take all honors, that is putting too much pressure on you. You are a smart girl and will do good whether in honors or not. Just let her know that you are going to be placed in a different English course and she should respect your decision of what you feel is best for you.
Enjoy being your age. Once you get older, you will look back and wonder what all you missed when spending all your time in the books trying to learn something, not because you want to, but because someone else wants you to.

aww I am sorry... ok I am a mother also..I know your mom wants you to do absolutely fantastic in school, so you will have the best career going when you get out of school. It's a parents dream and at times we tend to forget how hard things can be. Now if you are truly doing your very best and still do not understand what you have read, then sit down with your mom and talk about it. Have her help you understand it better, and IF you continue to have a hard time with it.. she will see that and I bet then you can convince her you want to take another English that you know you can pass.. Good luck..

When school starts, go see your counselor and tell them what you just wrote to us and ask if he/she would have a conference with your mom. Most people are stronger in one area than another i.e math/science vs english
Sounds like you are doing great and that your mom may be pushing just a little bit too hard. Good luck

Usually you have to qualify for honors classes. I would recommend you talk to your school guidance counselor.
You might not be giving yourself enough credit -- you might be so into the mindset that "it's too hard" that you are doing the self-fulfilling prophecy thing. You may need this sort of challenge and will do just fine. It took me YEARS to get beyond the first paragraph of Catcher in the Rye and it's now among my favorite books.
Your school counselor will be able to guide you and let you know if your test scores indicate you are capable of succeeding in an honors class.
Good luck sweetie!
