My nephew, who is almost 12, still plays with action figures. I find this bizarre. Also, and I find this even more bizarre, my sister MAKES him kiss her every time he leaves or enters the room. Please give me your opinions....

My grandson is almost 12 and still plays with action figures- he's got a great imagination and builds huge sets for them, etc. Leave him alone on that count, BUT when you say that your sister "MAKES" him kiss her EVERY time he leaves or enters a room.... that's ridiculous, excessive and sick. Your SISTER has a problem letting go of her adolescent son and he's going to get some wierd complex. I'll bet there is not a psychologist around who would think that behavior is normal. It would be one thing if HE went to her for a kiss (although also a bit wierd for a 12 yr old) but for her to MAKE him come t her for a kiss is bizarre.

Why would a 12 year old playing with action figures be bizarre? Unless that is all he does. Forcing him to kiss her everytime he leaves or enters a room is bizarre-is she serious? Not socializing in public with other people is not healthy-he needs to see his mother socialize and in turn put those tools to work by finding and keeping friends himself. Why not invite him out with you, and maybe for his birthday get him something to do with music-cd,ipod might allow him to act his age more. Sounds like he needs to have a little more control over his own life and mom needs to let him. She wouldn't want him to end up as a lonely recluse with no social skills playing with his action figures at 30 years old-rather he would be doing that with his kids, and be a functioning adult. Hope this helps.

I think it's fine to still play with action figures. i would rather see a boy play with action figures than with a video game. Playing with action figures shows takes imagination unlike a video game.
Lighten up on the affection thing. Nothing wrong with that. It might even help your nephew show affection towards gf or wife when he is older.

He will stop playing with the figures when he loses interest. Some adults like action figures- IT'S OK! Plus those can be worth money if he saves them.

As for the kiss, it sounds sweet. At least he is not backtalking and disrespecting his mother.

My boyfriend, who is now 19 years old, STILL plays with action figures/collects them AND he also watches cartoons. Hes a very mature person, works and goes to school full time, who happens to play/collect action figures. And I know a ton of guys WAY older then 12 that still do....everyone is different.
As far as kissing her son, every parent is different and shows affection differently. she just loves and cares for her son and is one of the few parents who shows it.

He is fine. Why are people are always making children grow up faster then they should. It is no wonder 15 and 16 year olds think they are adults. And displays of affection to a persons mother should never end!

twelve year old kids are having babies now and days, there is nothing wrong with him playing with action figures he could be doing a lot worst, your sister is just showing him love with the kisses, no harm in that.
