I am having difficulty getting credit with anyone because some of my history is under another person with my name, different SS# and DOB. So it looks like I don't have the credit I actually do because it showing up under this other persons SS#. Equifax will only talk to me if I send in a copy of my SS card and other ID. I'm very hesitant to do that. What can I do to get this problem resolved?

If you want it corrected, you will have to send them a copy of your SS# and probably a copy of your drivers license and a copy of a utility bill that is in your name.

Below is the FTC website that advises consumers of their rights under the fair credit reporting act. You do need to send them information in order to get revolved. You can also put a consumer statement that warns lenders reviewing a credit request will "validate" the identity.
Hope it helps

Send in the information they request so they can get your report straightened out.

That's the only way to get the problem resolved. You don't have to worry about them with your ID.
