He ate the fruit of his own free will! It was his job to tell her never to eat that fruit. He was even more guilty than she was. He was right there with her because she turned to him and offered him the fruit. Please read your Bible! God didn't fall for that "The woman you gave to me made me eat it ." either.

The fact is that Adam KNEW that he was to not eat of the fruit. He did it knowing fully well that there would be a consequence. He was not punished for what Eve did; but because he ate the fruit as well. If you check out the creation story in the Bible this was a sin that both Adam and Eve committed.

The bible teaches that man is the head of the woman. Adam when he followed Eve after she fell, did the same as she had done. The both knew God's command. Adam was just as guilty, and more so, than Eve. The man was made to be the protector, leader of the woman, and not the reverse.

Adam was not fooled by the snake, like Eve was, but he went along with Eve any ways; thats why he sined and has to pay the price also. Adam was to have the Kingdom of earth, but he failed the test. God had to send the second Adam(Jesus Christ) to save man kind.

Since Adam KNEW it was a sin to take of the fruit of the tree, yes. Even was deceived, Adam was NOT...he walked into it with his eyes WIDE open.

So the question isnt SHOULD Adam pay for the crime of Eve, but why did God hold Adam responsible? If you read your bible you will see why.

I bet he did pay. I am sure she was not in a good mood during her pregnancy, and then giving birth without drugs!!!
I am sure they blamed each other after being kicked out of the garden. Isn't this a natural reaction to suffering, blaming? Even Adam blamed Eve at first when God confronted him. I think Adam payed for many many years.

If you believe in that whole nonsense, Adam was actually more culpable than Eve. Eve was decieved by the snake, Adam knew exactly what he was getting into.

That being said, why is it that Eve is made out to be such a whore when Adam did the same thing but gets to play the victim? Was this whole thing the precursor to the sexual double-standard? Hmmm....

Should anyone pay for the crimes of their ancestors? My problem with original sin: why would a just God punish me for what Adam did? I didn't have anything to do with it. It would be the same thing as me being thrown into prison for a crime my grandfather committed.

Didn't Adam eat the fruit as well? He knew before Eve did not to eat that fruit. She didn't force him. That is why God punished them both!

No one will pay for the sins of another; Adam will not pay for Eve's sin and neither will you. However Adam will pay for his sin of disobedience to Gods commandments.

Having first-hand knowedge of God's commandment to NOT eat the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, Adam still chose to eat of it. He's guilty because he chose disobedience. He was made in God's image.
Seth was made in Adam's fallen image (Genesis 5)
