I've hoped for something and had it happen. Sometimes it didn't.
Just as effective as praying.

Since it is a funny story I would like to share with you this answered prayer. It took almost no time from the moment I asked to the answer.
I was driving home from Houston to Alvin. I was around 18-19 years old. I had worked hard and late and was very very tired. I could not stay awake. I sang loud, turned up the A/C, and even slapped myself silly (I mean it really!). In hind sight pulling over at the nearest gas station and calling home would have been the better idea (no cell phones back then). But, I was not/am not always the brightest person. I called out to God and prayed that he help me wake up and get home safely. No sooner had the words left my mouth a saw the blue and red lights of a police car behind me! I groaned "Lord this is not what I meant!" He pulled me over and gave me a sobriety test. He asked me if and how much I had been drinking. I told him yes : two liters! He said "WHAT?" I pointed to the seat behind me where a two liter Dr. Pepper bottle was. He said No alcohol and I told him I do not drink. He had me step out and lift a leg and count backwards from 20. I wobbled a lot and he said how come you cant stand straight. I said dude it's gravel you try it! He then asked why I was weaving if I was not drunk? I said "I was asleep!" He said well do you think you can make it home? I said yes sir you were better than a cup of coffee!" I did make it home and right when I pulled into our drive I was starting to get noddy again. (While this may be hard to believe I actually did this twice in almost the same area and almost identical conversation.) Oh...I might have been speeding, was not wearing my seat belt, and forgot my insurance both times. The officer was only concerned for my safty and other motorists (that is a miracle in and of itself!)

Oh yes! Thousands of times. Sometimes it happened within a minute. Sometimes a day or two and sometimes it took several months, maybe even a couple of years. For example, a few years ago, I lived in a neighborhood where people spoke only and kept on going. The grass in my yard was almost 3 feet high and because I was a single parent, I was living pay check to pay check (still do) and I didn't have the money to buy a mower or pay anyone at the time to cut the grass. I felt really sad and I started to cry. I held up my hands and began to talk with the Creator. While, I was still praying, all of a sudden, I heard a lawn mower. I ran to the window and a guy from down the street was cutting my grass. I went outside and I thanked him and I explained that I did not have any money to pay him but I would give him some money on payday. He told me that he did not want any money. He said that his heart told him to help me out and cut my grass.

r u kidding?!! I've had thousands of prayers answered and when they're not it means that god has a better plan 4 me. His plan may not make sense 2 u because his infinite wisdom doesn't remotely compare to ours. Even if u hate country, Garth Brook's,"Unanswered Prayers," is a great song.God loves our prayers. As a father he wants u 2 acknowledge that he's there and that he's able to help u.Praying 4 acceptance of the circumstances regardless of what they r is very helpful 4 me. Here's my favorite...God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

Yes, and almost immediately. My mother was visiting me and learned that her good friend, who had been ill but had been expected to live for several months, took a turn for the worse while she was with me and wasn't expected to live through the night.
We called the airline at noon and tried to get her on an earlier flight, but the first one available was at 4:30.
We went to the airport anyway, got there a little after1pm, and tried getting her on the standby list for the 1:35 flight. As she was going through security, I was asking Hermes that she would make the flight and that there would be room, and that she would be able to get to the hospital before her friend passed away.
Security (which usually takes 15 minutes at this airport) took about 5 minutes for her to get through. The flight was 1/3 empty (no clue why the airline didn't tell us this when we were re-booking earlier that day) and she made it on. She got to the hospital before her 4:30 flight would even have left the ground, and was able to spend several hours with her friend and her friend's daughter before he passed away at 4:15 the next morning.

One that to this day I wonder if it could be coincidence.
Long story short:
I was in 3rd grade. I had moved the year before and changed schools. I has a big crush on a girl from my old school. And, during summer vacation I realized I would not see her again, it hit me and I was upset. Me being a catholic I was prone to prayer. I asked god to please let me see her one more time.
But she lived so far away, and I had never seen her outside of school.
In a matter of minutes my dad came up to me and asked if I wanted to go to McDonalds. I agreed. In line, there was my crush, standing right in front of me in line.
I was kind of scared how that worked out. It was like, oh my god, god is listening.
But now I am agnostic. And, that experience is waht keeps me from being athiest lol.

Pat Robertson told of numeous occassions when his tv ministry in its early days struggled in need of money by a certain date. He often received that money at the last second and FOR THE EXACT AMOUNT he needed it for down to the penny. That to me is nothing short of miraculous.
Often times I've prayed but wasnt answered, only to have a FAR BETTER answer than what my original request was. The course of my life is significantly better now because of something I earlier asked for was rejected, becuase a better answer was around the corner. God worsks miracles to those who believe. I know firsthand. God knows inifinitely more than we do. Sometimes we demand things not intended for us. Ask for guidance, and find out if what you want is actually intended for you.

Yes, several times and it is always the same prayer. Whenever my husband and I have a really bad fight, I always pray to God to please let it end soon because I don't want to fight. It's strange, within a few hours, or even right away, my husband will come to me and say he doesn't want to fight anymore. Then I thank God for answering my prayer.

I waited 25 years for a healing. It was horrible suffering, but God is using it to help others now. I have a great testimony with everything I have gone through up until January when I received my healing. I would never say that I would want to experience it again, but I am thankful for the compassion that it has instilled within me.

All my prayers are answered immediately.
Either
1. YES
2. NO
Or
3. WAIT
Every single prayer to God, FSM, Odin, Osiris, MahaVishnu, Buddha, Ongobongo god of the Congo, Xena, Dr Who, Captains Kirk, Janeway or Picard, Mulder & Scully, SG1, my cat, my life size plushie etc has gotten one or more of those answers.
What do you think that means?
