"Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him and he will bring justice to the nations. He will not shout nor cry out, or raise his voice in the streets. A bruise reed he will not break, and a smouldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice; he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth. In his law the islands will put their hope."..
Let the desert and its town raise their voices; let the settlements where KEDAR lives rejoice. Let the people of Sela sing for joy; let them shout from the mountaintops. Let them give glory to the Lord..
But those who trust in idols, who say to images, "You are our gods," will be turned back in utter shame."
(Isaiah 42:1-17)
What does this mean to you? How do you understand it? What does Christianity say about this?
Because I find it matches the Prophet Muhammad (saw), all of it especially when it said KEDAR.

Prophet Muhammad (saw) is the only Prophet descended from Kedar, son of Ishmael from Abraham..
How can it possibly relate to Jesus when he descended from Isaac?

"in his LAW the islands will put their hope"
All Israelite Prophets after Moses (pbuh) did not bring any new law after him except maintaining the same law Mose (pbuh) brought..
"but those who trust in idols, who say to images, "You are out gods," will be turned back in utter shame."
Prophet Muhammad (saw) and his followers defeated the idol worshippers of Arabia. He destroyed their idols and made religion pure for Allah.

The key name is Kedar, an Ishmaelite. God the Almighty would never confuse Christ who was born of the Israelites whom the Christians are all too eager to call him the deccendant of David, was raised among Israelites, and 'died' in their lands, with that of Kedar, the descendant of Ishmael.
Ishmael, of course, was raised and died in the Arabian desert plains of Mecca. And so too were his descendants.
As history has objectively recognised, Muhammad had put an end to idol worshipping in Mecca when he peacefully conquested the city about 1400 years ago, and up to this day, it is clean of idols.
Jerusalem, on the other hand, is still filled with images and statues of Christ and the Virgin Mary among others, up to this very moment and was never clean of them since Muhammad's time.
The nations refer to the various Quraish tribes that were often at odds and disagreements before the arrival of Muhammad.
Furthermore, the mention of mountain tops reminds one of the hajj pilgrims flocking the Mount Arafat and Mount Rahmah which is out Mecca city but in the desert plains, raising their voice in worship and prayer.
The Islamisation of Mecca during his conquest truly means that at that point, justice on earth was established. Compare this with Christ' ministry-- he was 'caught' and eventually 'crucified' according to Christian doctrines, and the Israelites and the Jewish masses never acknowledge him up to this day. It was Paul who gain many converts among the Gentiles.
So this prophecy must definitely refer to Muhammad if viewed objectively and not emotionally.

Ahmad, know well that this is NOT THE ONLY PART OF THE BIBLE THAT SPEAKS ABOUT PROPHET MOHAMED. He is mentioned many many times; both in the Old Testament and the New Testament. I was born a Jew and I was certain that there must be a religion that succeeded Judaism, and this religion was certainly NOT CHRISTIANITY. When I read the Koran and studied Islam thoroughly, I was 250% sure that this was the one true religion. Yes, Mohamed was not only a prophet...but in fact, he was the greatest of all prophets.
BTW, I really believe that the best way to attract Christians to Islam is to speak about God and His Attributes. Know well that by challenging Christians in their beliefs regarding the presence of Mohamed in the Bible, you may toughen their stance against the great prophet. Remember that most of those who answered negatively were brought up as Christians and were warned never to change their faith under any circumstances. Alas! It is very difficult to convince them, but if I were you, I would speak gently and softly with these kind-hearted people. That they do not know the truth is a problem, but we have to inform them in a manner that must not irritate them.
Peace be upon you!

In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful
Those who follow the Messenger, the Prophet, the Ummi (Muhammad) whom they find mentioned in the Torah and the Gospel which are with them. He enjoins on them good and forbids them evil and makes lawful for them the good things and forbids them the bad things and remove from them their burdens and shackles that were upon them. So those who shall believe in him and honour and support him and help him and follow the light that has been sent down with him - these shall prosper.
Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of God, and the seal of the Prophets and God has full knowledge of all things.
Muhammad is the Messenger of God. And those who are with him are hard against the disbelievers but tender among themselves. Thou seest them bowing and prostrating themselves in Prayer, seeking God's grace and pleasure. Their marks are upon their faces, being the traces of prostrations. This is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is like unto a seed-produce that sends forth its sprout, then makes it strong; it then becomes stout, and stands firm on its stem, delighting the sowers - That He may cause the disbelievers to boil with rage at the sight of them. God has promised, unto those of them, who believe and do good works, forgiveness and a great reward.

Salaam akhi, what we have to realise is that the christians will never admit that when Isa Jesus (as) told his desciples that the comforter would come to them and spread peace, he was in fact taking about Muhammed rasool Allah (saw).
also he is sometimes reffered to as the paraclete which is a greek word in origin and the closest transalation of the word means "praised or exalted one" which is a translation of the name of the prophet, peace and blessing be upon him (the comfotor) .
its mentioned in John 14:16 "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever"
Isa (as) was reffering to the prophet (pbuh), not some mystical so called spirit that the christians claim they can feel. no one can vouch for such a belief of "feeling" something. besides Jesus (as) said that this comfotor when he comes will praise him, as Muhammed pbuh did so, and as it says in the Quraan In surat Marayam 19:33
33."And Salâm (peace) be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive!"
34.Such is (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary). (it is) a statement of truth, about which they doubt (or dispute).
"35.It befits not (the Majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son Glorified (and Exalted be He above all that they associate with Him). When He decrees a thing, He only says to it, "Be!" and it is.
36.(Jesus) said: "And verily Allah is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him (Alone). That is the Straight Path.
37.Then the sects differed, so woe unto the disbelievers from the meeting of a great Day
Sadaq Allah 3atheem.
Starred this question too inshAllah.

In the name of Allah, the most gracious the most merciful
Asalamu-Alaikum Brother
I have starred this question for you brother, and agree with the point you are trying to make. In the question I asked everyone kept mentioning "spirit". But in fact while reading the Quran I discovered that the "spirit" is also mentioned in the Quran. BUT the only difference is that Christians have intepreted the word Spirit in the wrong manner. In the Quran, it is referred to as 'Ruh' or 'Ruh al Qudus'. The Ruh, or spirit, is not that of God which they think. It is in refference to Angel Gabriel.
"And indeed, We gave Musa the book and followed him up with a succession of messengers, AND WE GAVE ISA (JESUS), THE SON OF MARY, CLEAR SIGNS AND SUPPORTED HIM WITH RUH-UL-QUDS(spirit)(Gabriel as). Is it that whenever there came to you messenger with what you yourselves desire not, you grew arrogant?some you disbelieved and some you killed"
(Quran, Surah al-baqara aya 87).

Jesus Christ was filled with the Holy Spirit and did great and amazing things in the name of God. What did muhammad do besides have a vision? Jesus Christ was silent before His slaughter. He did not shout out and profess who He was. There is always hope in Jesus Christ. Kedar means invincible or powerful. This scripture talks about the powerful and invincible that will praise the Lord.
Every knee shall bow before Christ, even muhammad....
