The best way I have found to lose weight is to exercise. Running for 20 - 30 minutes per day 4 days a week (right after work) is a great plan. Best of all you dont have to change your diet or lifestyle. If you want to lose weight faster, i would just stay away, or cut down on snack foods (4000 calories is one pound). It will take a while (maybe up to 1-2 months) to notice results, but after that, your body will begin to tone faster and people will notice. Dont give up and never skip a workout. Losing weight takes time.... if you give this a try, you will be down to your 130 mark in about 1 year. I have already lost 30 pounds in about half a year without chaning my diet at all.

One big thing to remember is that small steps are better than huge loss. Healthy long term weight loss is only about one or two pounds a month. More important than how much or what you eat is also how active you are. The more active you are, the more muscle mass you build, which raises your metabolism and allows you to eat more to keep your energy levels up. That doesn't mean you can eat nothing but crap, but if you love veggies then take advantage of it!

Try to get up and get moving as much as possible. Walk to friends houses that are closer, go for the healthier drink options (Water is good for you!) and don't let other people *make* you eat. Nobody can make you put the food in your mouth. If you're not hungry, stop. If you are, eat half and save the rest for later.

There's a lot of things you can do, but take it one day at a time. Don't rush it. Good luck!

Erika, start by writing everything down you eat and get rid of the stuff you don't need. You'll be suprised at the stuff you write down. I tried this and started feeling guilty! Guilt is a good motivator. The get out an jog a little or ride a bike. Start with a little bit then gradually increase your duration. You only have to go about 45min. to an hour a day, but go 3-4 days a week. Burn>than you eat. That's the key. Discipline yourself. You say you like veggies, eat all you want. Good luck to ya!

Oh i know exactly how you feel. It took me a bit but i got down to 113 and it was hard. When you think you want to eat, drink water instead. I actually had to drink water until i felt sick to resist, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Excercise 3-4 times a week, more if you really want results, but always give yourself one day completely off to recoop after all that exercise. Do cardio and lift weights. I know you might be thinking, "Lift weights?! I don't want to bulk up!" but the fact of the matter is that you wont. You'll need muscle tone to obtain the look im sure you're set out to achieve. Change your eating habits too. Cut down significantly on fats, sugar, dairy, simple carbs (white bread, rice, blah blah.) but don't cut these out completely. Eat whole grains, fruits, veggies, protein in little amounts, ect. Most important though, don't beat yourself up. If you eat that cookie you really wanted don't worry about it. You have tomorrow to skip out on it. If you're feeling hungry still, eat a little more. Don't kill yourself over this. Good luck girl!

Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.

It is better to eat a great variety of vegetables than fruits. It is ok and good to eat vegetables.

Try low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein, and exercise. The foods are low caloried, and yet filling and healthy.

It is my lifestyle now. I am on low carb, low fat, high fibre, high protein and a hour brisk walk 5 times a week, and I have lost 31lbs/14kg and gained better health. I am now maintaining my 108lbs/49kg for more than a year, with more fruits and complex carbs.

Details such as my experience, meals, recipes, foods to buy, reading labels, walking as an exercise and to shape the body etc etc, are in my blog.
