I am a mother of three. I didn't go back to work until my children were at least a year old so I think that 6 months is fine. You should go to work when you feel comfortable with leaving the baby especially if this is your first child.
As far as day cares you have to be careful. If you have any friends who have kids you should ask them what day care their kids go to. You want to make sure that it is a respected day care. Don't want to scare you, just warn you. I sent my kids to a day care that I did not know how they really treated my kids. My couswin finally got a job there and told me how it was. You have to be really careful. Make sure when you do sign the child up that you are able to pop into the day care when ever you want to check on your child other wise you may not know what is happening. I wish you the best of luck and happy hunting.

I was working when I was pregnant - so I could only take a certain amount of paid leave off. I took the maximum - 12 weeks. But if yuo weren't working before, obviously there is no job that you are obligated to. So take as much time off as you want to enjoy your baby!

As far as daycares go - you'll have to call around and find out what ages they take and if they have any openings. I would suggest strating this process about 1 month before you decided to go back to work. Sometimes it's hard to find someone who has an infant opening. You could also always find a nanny to come to your home and care for your baby while you are at work.

when u find a day care call them and make an app then show up about an hour early so you can see how they really treat the kids..and you get off about 12 weeks but sometimes a job wont hire you since your pregnant because they know you will need time off..
