My 2 year old has been potty training well for a few months, and has been consistently using the toilet on her own. Up until the last few days. I've been finding poop next to the litter box, and assuming the cat had been accidentally missing the mark, until today. I caught the baby leaning over and peeing into the box! Does anyone have any ideas what I can do (other than spanking) to discourage this behavior?

Ok, it's funny and it's not funny.

Sit your little girl on your knee and explain to her that Kitty uses a LitterBox but People (point to yourself and her) use a Potty (or what ever it is YOU refer to it as). She is just starting Potty Training and can easily get confused with where she can and can't go (this is bound to happen when you have pets).
Praise her everytime she uses the potty the proper way and explain to her on her level when things don't go the way they should (children will have accidents and should NEVER be berated or punished).

You've got to admire the fact that she 'connected' the meaning of the litter box to the potty ( not many 2 yr olds would).

Do get a covered litter box though as Kitty is likely to stop using it while your daughter is and I'm pretty sure you don't feel like trying to 'potty train' your cat all over again.

I would be more worried about your baby possibly eating the kitty litter than I would about her going potty there. She shouldnt be able to have access to it let alone be there unsupervised. A child that age will put anything in their mouth. Fix the area or move the litter box so she cant get to it.

tell her that cats use the litter box and big girls get to use the potty. (try to make it sound like more of a privilege) you could try giving her a reward, like a lollipop for using the potty. when your cat uses the litter box you can have your daughter give him a treat too. hopefully shell get the difference.

Hahaha. That is funny. She is just copying what she sees the cat doing. Can you move the cat box somewhere where it is concealed from the baby? Just tell her no, the box is for the cat, she is to use the potty.

Get a litter box with a lid and a door. The cat will appreciate it, and the baby won't be able to get in.

there is "cat-charm to" clutter and that i do no longer understand what they put in there even though it rather does help, i did no longer even could prepare my final, he in basic terms used it. additionally, attempt getting decrease cat field so they are in a position to somewhat walk in and out and consistent with risk greater clutter packing boxes because of the fact some cats are finicky and wont pass interior the field after yet another cat
