For anything minor, like arguing with each other, or not picking something up when asked, do a time out. For anything major, or if you have to give them more than 3 time outs in a day together, sit them down and tell them that if they can't behave you'll have to call their parents. Parents come down very hard on their children when they misbehave for a babysitter or other adult. Also, tell them that if they keep acting that way when you are there, their parents may not let you come play with them anymore. Children generally like hanging out with their babysitters, and this may scare them enough to straighten their attitude out.

put them in the closet... lock the door... just kidding. well with my children who are 7 and 11 now.... i used to reward them with little cheap trinkets.. or a dollar... if they would do what i told them... if they became out of line.. i would deduct 10cents.. it worked till the 11 year old got older now i do 5's for her and 2 dollars for my son. another thing that worked was if they did not listen i would turn off everthing until they did.

This is a hard one. If the children are not listening to you, then they probably aren't listening to their parents either. Probably a discipline thing. You can't discipline them, so just bribe them with treats. If the parents can't bring their children up to respect adults, their carers, teachers, etc.. then it's their fault. lol. Let them stay up all night with a sugar hyped up kid.

Set out ground rules in front of the parents as soon as you walk in...explain that when its bedtime its bedtime...and explain at what time they are going to bed...also get the parents on side to explain what time they must be in bed for...and what is the bedtime routine...if they start getting crazy read a bedtime story

Make a deal with them. Say, if you do this we can play a fun game. Or you can stay up later if you ... Give them rewards for doing good things.

tell them that if they are good you have a treat for them. if they misbehave, gently remind them. give them a couple warmings, and then take it away. don't be too strict though, they are young. it's not completely bribing, but it works for me.
