Yes it would work, but its illegal. Poaching. Probably not a lot of fun either, but if I was starving...

I don't think a cattle prod would work to fish with unless you tie a string and hook to the end of it and use it as a pole.

If you mean by trying to shock them, that probably wouldn't work either. Even if it did work, it's very illegal to shock fish. We call it telephoning around here because the old guys used the old wind up phones with leads going into the water. They'd drag the weighted wires behind the boat while cranking the generator on the phone. Then they would go back and scoop all the fish as they popped up.

Anyway, I don't think you could get enough amps out of your hot shot to kill any fish. It's more fun to actually fish for and catch them, anyway.

I really don't think that would work.A cattle prod has two little metal rods on the end and the idea/concept is you touch the animal and that completes the "circuit" and the electrical charge goes thru the animal (like a stun gun). Water would probably short the whole thing out and I wouldn't want to be the one holding it when it does. I think that would definately leave a "mark' I'd be willing to say that would be like urinating on an electric cattle fence by accident..........If you try it and survive...let us know how it turned out!....lol

I have never heard of it being tried but I don't think a cattle prod produces enough of a charge to shock the fish unless they are touched or very near the prod.
