How do you tell what region a DVD is from?

Where on the box? I can't find it anywhere.

look for a symbol with a number in it.

usually this is located at the bottom of the box on the back, sometimes this isn't listed esspecially if you live in the US and the movies region code is 1, also sometimes it is located on the disc usually the region number is in a small eliptical earth symbol or triangle symbol.
