So why do people learn about Islam from anti-Islamic websites and people who know nothing about Islam?

Do you think they are actually saying the truth about Islam?

All what they are trying to do is to proof that Islam is a violent religion, they get verses from the Quran out of context, say some non sense about what Islam teaches and what Muslims do and people believe them.

For example a certain verse in chapter 8 in the holy Quran talks about Killing misbelievers, the context of the verse is during battlefield. One cannot take a verse revealed for a battle and insist it is if for the daily affairs of Muslims.

They also use the fact that a woman’s share of the inherited wealth only half that of a man to proof that women are worth less then men in Islam, but thats only because a woman has no financial obligation and the economical responsibility lies on the shoulders of the man. Its the duty of the man to spend on his wife, children, mother and his sister if she is not married,

A woman can work and spend on her family as well but she is not obliged to,
Would you prefer inheriting one hundred thousand dollars and spending eighty thousand from it, or inheriting fifty thousand dollars and having the entire amount to yourself?

The North American education system has produced some of the greatest and foremost, thinkers. We criticize the beliefs of those, who believe in a God, but at the same time, talk about a man dressed in a red suit, driving a sleigh full of gifts, pulled along by reindeer, for delivery to all homes on x-mas eve ! We claim to be the continent of the free and are slaves to sex, drugs, alcohol, money, jobs, cars, houses, etc., etc. ... and you dare even, to ask, " why do people learn about Islam from anti-Islamic web-sites" ?

Sure, and if you lack battlefields, why not arrange for one?

But Jesus said:
"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect."

i agree with you (& Mehrosh) completely. What i find silly is,.. that people consider Islam to be this oppressive religion which treats women as second class citizens. Those of us who have more knowledge about Islam, are aware that the religion afforded women protection & rights, centuries before they were even allowed to vote in Western cultures!! Anyway, whether people choose to agree/ disagree, follow or not follow islam..it's up to them...but personally speaking, i would want to gain information from a appropriate source before passing judgement! (And by this, i do not mean watching t.v...The Media has been known to be wrong before).

I just want to appreciate your efforts.
You'll find rude answers also. Don't be discouraged.
Keep on spreading the good word. Those who are unbiased and with an open heart and logical, will understand the facts.
The more they understand true Islam more peaceful will be this planet.

You make valid points but your fellow believers have done far too much harm to be brushed under the rug. We have the remains of the world trade center, we have the videos showing the heads being sawed off, these are your own people.

A Muslim woman told my sister who is 16 with 3 kids that she needs to stop working and be a housewife. That did it for me. I still am tolerant of others religions but and have nothing against Muslims but I do find it degrading to women at times...

I can tell you that many times as a minister...people tell me stranges things about what they think I believe. I always tell them my faith. They are often shocked to know I have complete faith and trust in Jesus but worship Jehovah...so I know many other faiths have rumors about their beliefs that are false...keep reaching out to show others the truth about your faith and of course worship the true God!!

Dear Sister (I am guessing you are sis because of your name)

Let the devil do his work, and you do yours. It is Allah who guides us, and He guides the one who is really looking for guidance. He will not question you for what they do.

What we can do as muslims is that not to visit such websites because visiting them again and again will give them higher hits and will top them in Google search lists. Thats what such people want.

Islam will spread and is spreading even without us.

I completely agree with you sister. In my most recent religious studies class.. i noticed that a number of the citations for Muslim books were not written by authors with Muslim names... almost none of them were. I looked up a few of them to see if they were converts, but i couldn't find one of them that was.

I just seems to me that if you wanted to learn about something, you would go to the source. If I want to learn about Russian culture, I will seek out a Russian. If i want to learn about Buddhism, I will seek out a Buddhist.

When you're looking for information, you should seek out the experts

Peace and Blessings,
Sakina

Thank you! I never understood why ppl did this. It is one thing to read both sides but only stick with info. from non-whatever religion you are trying to learn about is stupid.
