You are absolutely correct. As a matter of fact, the makers of Aquafina have recently admitted that their product is nothing more than tap water that is run through a number of filters. They are being made to change their labeling. Some time ago there was a program on TV that experimented with bottling water from a public drinking fountain in New York and putting attractive labels on the bottles and selling them for let's say "inflated" prices in restaurants. You wouldn't believe how many people fell for this and asked for more. It's known as SALES. Does common sense exist anymore?

As Josh indicates above, the bottled water industry plays on the fears and suspicions of the masses over what Big Brother in municipal government puts into our drinking water, and now the joke is out, its just processed tap water to being with. Suckers who buy the stuff are blissfully unaware that the quality of bottled water is not covered by federal quality regulations, like municipal Drinking Water is. Its all sold under the honor system as far as quality is concerned, and people forget that Big Water can be just as dishonest as Big Oil or the Big Three or whatever successful busniess entity they choose to mistrust.

Aquafina became in basic terms compelled by the courtroom to record the source of that's nice bottled water as what it rather is faucet WATER!!! if the water doesnt get shipped out of state, i do no longer think of it rather is under the scrutiny of FDA attempting out the two. maximum bottled water comes in the present day out of a faucet on the bottling plant with little or no further medical care. Why do you think of it rather is a 6 billion greenback a three hundred and sixty 5 days business company?

i am really not sure, but you are right. In fact tap water is better for you then bottled. Did you know that Dasani water just publicly admitted that their water is simply bottled tap water. It was in the news with another type of water, but i forget which. I suppose people go for the bottled water for two reasons, name brands (god knows why) and because many are enhanced with minerals. I agree with you though, tap is so much better.

Bottled water that is labeled as "drinking" water is actually tap water insofar as the Dasani and the Aquafina varieties. However, if you are looking for purified water, that does not come from the tap. Neither does spring water or any of the mineral varieties. If regular drinking water is all you are looking for to treat your thirst then the tap is a very good source.

Some bottled water is actually tap water, and companies are now being forced by law to disclose this on the bottles. Seems like the bottled water phenomenon was just a way to get people to pay for something that should be free.

well when i little growing up in the 90s i remember watching all of these bottled water ads, it was almost showing like one of every three or four commercials and they would advertise their water as "pure" or "natural" and stuff like that. all of these advertisements were design to make the public think that its better than tap water and unfortunately...it worked. people started questioning the safety of tap water, sales of bottled water grew tremendously. even more unfortunate though was that most of the bottled water is just the filtered water from municipal utilities. these advertising blitz worked so well that sales would grow and grow and for the past few months i only seen one commercial and thats only from arrowhead which means its already implanted in everybodys head already that bottled water is the way to go.
to end this what wrong with tap water is NOTHING, its just years of advertising that made us THINK theres something wrong with it. i say continue to drink tap water which it is perfectly fine and FREE and not buy into this water bottle fad that companies created.

Lots of good answers already, but I'll throw in my 2 cents.
>> Flouride is NOT good for you. Government should worry about keeping water safe- NOT medicating it.
>> Tap water has to meet governmental purity standards. Bottled water does NOT.
>> Best system is tap water + a RO (reverse osmosis) filtration system + stainless steel water bottle (like a klean kanteen).
>> Water bottles are bad for the environment & leech out chemicals into the water. Do we really need another petro based plastic clogging our landfills?
>> Finally, the main reason is $$$$$$
Good question.

I agree with you. I drink tap water everyday. Most bottle water are tap water. Pepsico CEO Ms. Indra Nooyi recently announced that their product Aquafina will be labled as tap water soon. Most bottled waters are just purified (filtered) and added minerals for better taste. Name brand bottled water like Aquafina and Dasani are also just tap waters. There is no need to waste money. Just add filter to your tap if you want to drink filtered water, it is exactly same as most bottled waters just taste is little different, but not bad at all. To buy bottled water is only a wasting money.

Bottled water is regulated under the (FDA) Food and Drug Administration and Tap water is regulated under the (EPA) Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA mandates that local water treatment plants provide city residents with a detailed account of tap water source and the results of any testing, including contaminant level violations. Bottled water companies are under no such directives. There are 2100 known contaminants in our tap water. Our tap water still needs to be filtered and changed into alkaline, contaminate free, chlorine free Kangen water. Kangen means to put back to original condition. Kangen water is produced by a Kangen water machine, that attaches right to your faucet.
