1st off: this is NOT a racist question, my family came from Mexico, so it's not like that.
2nd: If they want to be American citizens so badly, shouldn't they be put to the test to earn their citizenship?
Rather than a "draft" of able bodied, good ole American boys and girls, why can't we DEPLOY, rather than DEPORT these illegals that want to be here so badly.
3rd: If they want a better life here, they should have to make the sacrifice to defend our way of life here.
We should not be asking our 18 y/o American born citizens to do this, so illegals can live a better life safely in America.
4th: I'm not saying to send the women and children, but the equally able bodied men and women -- train them in english and war and make them earn it if they want it.
P.S. I'm sure a loooooot of Americans would love our immigrants for doing this if this were the case rather than trying to keep them out of the country.

Probably not. Why do we (America) always have to be giving something? i.e citizenship for service in military, free health care because of ... I see the pride in the work that the troops do coming for their love for this country - true patriotism. Do you know that many illegal immigrants who have had children in this country know nothing of the history of this great nation, know none of the beautiful anthems, or even what the symbols and colors on Old Glory stand for? Yet they have lived here and not learned, not even learned English. To ask those people to fight for American causes when they are not patriots would be futile. Many immigrants do join the military after they have gone through proper procedure to gain their citizenship. But I don't think citizenship should be a reward for people serving. They would do the minimum and ask for the maximum in return. Don't forget the reason a large percentage are coming - to receive our blessings: education, health care, good wages - not citizenship.

there are people from all countries that would proudly serve in the US military because they understand what its like to want a better life, not like all the spoiled people here in america that take our freedoms for granted and arent willing to serve. instead of asking them to prove their willingness to sacrifice for a country that they dont live in, why dont we send american born citizens to defend the freedoms they enjoy so that maybe they'll get a bit of understanding as to why so many people love this country for its freedoms, but hate the people for their selfishness. people here in america just expect things to be handed to them, and dont understand all the sacrifices it takes to keep this country the way it is. i dont have a problem with immigrants in the military, its a good opportunity, but that shouldnt be the only people sent to war, americans live in this country, and americans should be the ones defending it, and not putting it off on others to do for them.

No.

What makes you believe the millions of Americans and Permanent Residents on active duty, in the reserves and National Guard want to serve with illegal aliens?

The US has had an all voluntary military for several decades, but we allow foreign born to enlist after a background check. In my view, they should be granted automatic citizenship after passing basic training if they desire to be citizens.

Offering illegals the choice between the military or deportation sounds fine to me.

Incidentally, someone said earlier that we allow ex cons to serve in our military. That is an absolute lie.

Sure, why not? We let ex-convicts serve in our military. What's the difference?

At least those who serve in the military wouldn't be looking over their back. With ex-convicts, you just never know if they would be looking to kill you.

And, of course, there are the hired hit men that are out there as well. Hired mercenaries out to do the job that our military men and women are suppose to do.

Oh yeah, we can go it alone. The old infamous saying of our leaders in charge.

So, if we can go it alone, why do we need other countries to begin with? It's because we have created a cest pool of terrorists into Iraq so we can continue this needless blood bath.

So, again, why not let them join in the war?

One other thing to bring up here is that they allow people from other countries to serve with the agreement that after so many years, they can become U.S. citizens.

We don't draft. Some Mexicans are joining the military. It's important that they be able to speak understand English. We aren't changing the military to suit them. We aren't asking our Citizens to do anything. They are volunteering. We are still ahead of our annual goal in recruiting numbers, so I think we are okay.

Sending all and sundry to conflict is somewhat severe employer. there's a provision the place-via immigrants are allowed into the militia, and if the serve honorably they are able to be placed on a quickly tract to citizenship.

No... illegal immigrants should be DEPORTED.

I served with HUNDREDS of non-citizens during my US Naval service (1985-1999): Irish, German, Russian, Iranian, Egyptian, Mexican, Guatamala, Panamanian, Philippine.

THEY had signed up PRIOR to entering our country... they had not violated the LAW, and were willing to make great sacrifices to EARN their citizenship during their required SIX years of enlistment.

We DO NOT have a draft in the US... though personally I think EVERY person on welfare SHOULD serve (civil or military). We should ALSO stop ALL welfare to illegals, college tuition, etc. Again... deport them and put the welfare to work.

As retired military, I don't want to risk MY life serving with a bunch of conscripted ILLEGALS... nor do I want to waste the tax-payers $$'s teaching "them" to speak English.

Why should a person who is not a citizen of the USA be made fight in the uniform of the USA??

Its against the constitution of the U.S. to make a non-American fight under the U.S. flag.

It is also unethical as well.

And despite your statement your question is very RACIALLY motivated.

Absolutely I was thinking the same thing. Sending them to war will propose a problem though. They will not be able to understand the english language. Yet it may also be an oppurtunity for them to learn the english language so they can get a better job in America.
