I took the risk of coming to this world (stayed inside my mom for 9 and a half months). I am healthy so far.
I took the risk of going to university in Turkey (1967-72) and attending so many 'illegal' demonstrations. I never got beaten up.
I took the risk of being a Turkish Cypriot and living in Cyprus.
(I was a prisoner of war but came out with no harm)
I took the risk of marrying a woman I only saw - though I knew her family. (It's been 25 years now. She is a fine woman).
I took the risk of becoming a father. (I am happy to be a father and I love her).
I took the risk of becoming a teacher and trying to teach something to 20th/21st century kids. (It's been 31 years now and I am still sane).
I took the risk of meeting Greek Cypriots and becoming friends with them - the enemy - when the checkpoints were still closed and we had to get permission from Mr.Denktash for that. (He and others accused us of being traitors, just accused, couldn't prove anything).

Risks......mmmm......my life has been full of risks, but there is a saying 'No pain, no gain'....I guess it does have some meaning!! Most of the time I succeeded though with the risks I took eventhough some of them were really scary!
Here are a few of my 'more fun' risks I took:
On the highway, I tried to test how fast my car could really go and then I wanted to know what would actually happen if I'd go over the speed limit of my car...have you tried... well it goes pooooofffff and the engine stops and for a second I was asking myself if my car was broken and if the cars behind me would crash into me! But, there was nothing to worry as the engine came back on again!
One day, somewhere on a bumpy mountain road in the middle of nowhere at sunset in South America, my car's tank got hit by a stone and caused a leak. I tried to stop the gasoline from coming out with a chewing gum and prayed to make it at least to the pass and from there it would be downhill to the next village! Well, I almost made it to the pass....and then it stopped! I got worried because a lot of guerillas were in these mountains and it really was a risky idea leaving so late but thanks God a Pepsi Cola truck came by and pulled me into the next village!

I resigned after working 9 years for a company and opened my own office 3 years ago. It was a great risk becoz there were lots of bad examples.

I think i succeed; now its funny to compare the money i made in those 2 periods.

Regards...

I'm not much of a risk taker. When a take a risk knowing that I take a risk, I fail.

On the other hand, there is no risk-free decision. Where to work, who to marry, how to make an investment...

As a Murphy, I try to tread on the safe side. You know, "if something has the possibility to go wrong, it goes wrong."

I can't think of a specific one now. I'm sure after I submit this I'm going to remember one =p Anyway, I always take risks, it's not because I am extremely brave or likewise extremely stupid, it's because if I don't take it then, afterwards I tend to repent it. Then I start asking "What if bla bla bla" questions that haunt me all the time until I go and take that particular risk! I don't care if I fail it's better than being disturbed by that tiny unintelligible voice inside your brain.

can not share but I have failed at some of them and succeed at some...

I am a true risk taker and

I agree with HotTürk no risk=no success and wanna add to it, no risk=no life as you become the servant of your fears without taking any risks...

taking a risk without knowing what's it gonna end up like ! thats a risk... you success or fail at the end... for instance, going somewhere you dont have a clue about and try to begin a life over there... you may be happy or miserable... for instance starting a business, hoping you will be successful with it.. but end up with a failure...

Believing in false hopes and hesitating every moment you have are the greatest risks you can ever take.Sometimes you should be brave, just think positive, everything will be ok,as it said in the book "Secret"
