I think you are assuming that the U.K. has the same sort of weather throughout. Not so. Where will your daughter be studying?
As a 'general' rule, September is a quite mild month.
October usually sees the start of the Atlantic depressions when, on a few days, mostly in the north and west, and sometimes in the south, it can get quite windy, but normally no more than force 6or7 Beaufort.( U.K. does not get hurricanes)
November usually has frequent foggy and misty days.
December, a mix of everything. I have known 16 deg. Celsius (61deg. Fahrenheit) on Xmas day, but I have also known a few degrees below zero.
It can snow at any time from November, but seldom lasts longer than a week at that time of year.
As I first said, weather conditions vary quite a bit from east to west or north to south, so I have just taken an average generalisation, for the whole of the U.K.

Hope this answer helps you to prepare a little.

i would advise youre daughter to pack warm coats and scarfs, especially for the month of December as it can get very cold and we sometimes even get the snow. September usually is not that cold, although the weather can be very unpredictable in the UK.
October and November are also quite cold and theres a good chance of the rain and the wind, not too windy tho but windy enough to feel the cold.
