this may sound cruel, but my aunt used to do it and she's a vet. put chilli on the litter, and once the dog tastes it, trust me, he wont want to eat any more!!!
hope this helps! =)

Kitty litter can be very dangerous to dogs ~ most are clay products and can cause blockage in a dogs stomach and intestines.
If at all possible try moving the cat box in an area that the dog does not have access to ~ or purchase a pet safety gate to keep the dog from the cat box area. Or move the cat box up high since cats are jumpers.
If that is not possible, try purchasing a box cover then turn the box towards the wall so the cat can still have access but the dog can get around to it.
If all else fails ~ purchase a different cat litter, one that is not only environmentally safe but safe to other animals...

No matter how much I used to scold my dog for it, she never learned. I eventually had to put the box up on a chair. Since the cat could climb up to it, it worked out fine. Now, I do not have an inside cat anymore, so I don't have to worry about it. But, when I did it was a nightmare, until I moved the litter box.

THis is a very interesting question! I would move the cat litter so the dog can't reach it. Cats are agile and can jump everywhere. Moving the litter to a high cabnit or somehting would get rid of that problem easy!

Oh you didn't know it is called "doggy tootsie rolls"? I don't know of any dogs that don't try and eat those tasty morsels. They also like cow and horse chips. A few times of tasting hot sauce or something else the dog doesn't like should help to deter him besides a good scolding or two. Good luck. Mmm

Keep cat box and dog apart....like is using baby gates, or a cat door. People all over deal with this and work it out just fine!!!!

Move the sand box, and train your dog to avoid the new spot. It might take several times of catching her/him going near the box, but eventually you'll succeed. I had to do that once, too.

beat him! lol just kiddin..move the cat litter where the dog can't find and if it does, just practice obedience and make sure he knows it's wrong. Punish him for it. I know it sounds harsh but its the best way

Best thing to do is draw it away with something better and healthier.Try putting box somewhere else and give him a reward for not trying to get to it.

Put it out of his reach. Cats can climb up to it.
