Okay so i wanted a yorkie for the longest time
and this lady ( i suppose its a lady she never really gave me her number but both me and my mom talked to her over email) has 2 of them, that she is giving away FOR FREE.
im kinda sketchy about this, because usually these dogs run between 1000- almost 3000 dollars.
she says its because they have been apart of her, and she would feel guilty asking for money.
i have a yorkie already, and i really wanted two more to add to my family.
we already bought our airfares to the area she lives at.
i do not want to get a "sick" dog.
even though she said they are completley healthy,
and they are 4 months old.
What do you think about this, am i getting scammed?

Yes, she had pictures.
No, she did not ask me for any personal information.
I do not want to think that a person would do such a thing, but i cant help but wonder.
She as well said she can meet me at the airport or i can go to her house.
Also, does it normally take a week to get things ready for a dog to go to a new house?
that is what she told me.
Thanks all of you so much.
God Bless.

You guys REALLY need to talk to her on the phone first and yes it does sound like a scam. Have you seen photos of the dogs? Why is she getting rid of them? Are you all going to pick them up or are you having them shipped? If you are having them shipped then yes.... you just got scammed. Thats the biggest thing going on online. They usually advertise Yorkies or Maltese or Chihuahuas for free and say you pay for shipping from Africa or somewhere.... People never receive a dog. Be sure to get all of the person's info when you get there. Her full name, address, phone number, etc. and ask for ID to prove it. She shouldn't get upset or offended if she has nothing to hide. Take the dogs to a vet before leaving her city to get checked over thoroughly.
A good way to see if she's scamming is to email her from a new email account acting as if you are another peson interested in the dogs and see what she says. Ask her if anyone else is interested in the dogs. If she says no or says they are still available or you catch her in a lie... she is scamming

Yipes. Return the tickets and buy from a local breeder who is active in showing their dogs. Do some research and get referrals from your national or state breed club' secretary.
Or go to a shelter or breed rescue (check the national or state website for this).
Every penny you spend will be well woth the peace of mind you'll get from buying from a know source instead of an unknown. Judging from the fact that you posed this question here tells me that your instincts are talking. Listen.
More: It is an incredibly stressful experience buying a puppy. Even if you've owned dogs before, you may feel pressure and uncertainty when buying a pup. The idea of the scam is that IF you already spent the money on a flight to get there and the puppies are not everything promised, it is INCREDIBLY difficult to leave empty handed. Phsycologically, we want to believe that we were not so foolish as to have allowed ourselves to be scammed. Many, many peole would just buy the puppy anyway and leave just to save face.

Sounds familiar to my story. This woman who answered my computer add said she she would give me a Yorkie free if only I would pay the air fair. She said she was moving to Africa to work and she couldn't take her puppy or dog with her! She sounded very spiritual and had me really thinking this was going to be my baby. Luckily I read in the paper about her scam. She picked a picture of a darling Yorkie and set people like us up.
Don't fall for it. It is too good to be true and I didn't have anymore to do with these scams.
I hope you follow my advice and are very careful who you are buying from.
You will find the right one in time and be glad you ask for help on this. I found my dog from a good breeder.
Have a good evening or day.

SCAM
what needs to be gotten ready at 4 months should already have papers, had all shots including the rabies.
If the dog is flying all she needs to do is call the vet and ask for the vet records and note stating dog is fine for shipping and pick up later that day.
Unless she bred them herself she only had them for 2 months and I'm sure she paid for them and she's that attached not to at least try to get some of the money.
I would ask for a picture of both pups along with a paper that shows the date most of these scammers will give every excuse why they can't do it.
Be careful I would say I'm like at least 95% sure this is a scam from what you have said. i would insist on a name, address, and phone number of the owner and the vet and get in contact withthe vet.
Good Luck in what happens please let me know how you make out

How far away is this "lady" that you have to fly there and what about the charges to fly the dogs back with you? IF she is not giving you her number something is not right. Whatever you do, do NOT take your dog with you. I would not believe her in this day and age, if they are pure bred and healthy, what does she mean they are a part of her? I would make her give you her number and do some research on her before you lose more than just your airline fees on this one...try a pet rescue before you do this!! What personal information has she gotten out of you...I hope NONE...but if so I would contact the authorities where she lives...better safe than sorry...

Obviously, this is a scam...a well known one too. Most likely there is no dog, or the dog is extremely ill. Yorkies don't always cost 1,000-4,000. They only cost that much if they are puppies straight from the breeder or puppy mill. My advice would be to get a yorkie from a local shelter or rescue group (yes, there are yorkie specific rescue groups). Next time, try petfinder.com. There are thousands of yorkies looking for homes for only a small adoption fee.

Yes it is a scam, this is a popular one with the yorkies and they are doing it in Ontario too. No one would give one of those dogs away. She is probably after a shipping fee for the dog. Don't fall for it!

Its a scam ! Heres how it works ...
1. They ask for via western union you send the money ... no dogs ..
2. They'll say the dogs are having trouble getting threw customs and they'll a couple of hundreds ....you send it ... still no dogs ..
3. they'll keep making up exscuses to get you to send more money . and you end up never recievieng the dogs .And you end up very dissapointed because you were scammed out of hundreds and you never recieved your new future pets .
Take these tips and make sure you never get scammed .
If it sounds to good to be true it probably it is . No dog is free . Especially dogs that are purebreds and AKC . Might i suggest look at a local shelter .

I would suggest that before you get these dogs you do two things.
1. Call the SPCA in her area to ask if she is currently or has ever been investigated by them and also if two dogs matching their description have been recently reported missing.
2. Ask her for her vet's contact information. Call the vets office and ask that their records be faxed to a vet in your area for examination.
If both of these things check out - go get you new dogs :)
I hope everything works out for you - good luck!

Sounds like a scam to me. Whatever you do...DO NOT send this lady any money for anything. The best thing that you have going for you is that you are personally going to go and get these puppies.
Good luck!
