It can be deep fried outside in a turkey fryer, but do NOT try to deep fry a whole chicken indoors. Cut it up and fry it, or do it outside.Good Luck!
Here is a site to check out...

This Site Might Help You.
RE:
Can you deep fry a whole chicken (the ones most folks would roast whole)?
Anybody got a recipe? Would it bubble up too much (and need to be fried outside, like a turkey), or could it be fried in an indoor deepfryer or pressure cooker?

Of course you CAN...
My brother and I do 3 chickens in our fryer every month, and a turkey every 3 months. We ONLY do it outside !!
The trick to measuring the oil is to get HUGE pot, put chicken (or Turkey) in the pot and measure out how much WATER it takes to cover the chicken. You want a pot big enough that the water and chicken ONLY fill 1/2 to 3/4 of the pot.. to prevent hot oil from bubbling over.
When we do this, we actually wear welding gloves, face shields, boots, and have a fire extinguisher ready.
BE SAFE and GOOD LUCK !!

We do it all the time, but as stated before it must be done outside. Get a turkey fryer they burn on propane it usually takes about three and a half min. a pound at 275-300 deg. good luck.

I would do this outside on cement in a turkey fryer.

I would be extremely cautious and would worry about it not cooking evenly.
