Being in love is a great 'feeling' and involves much emotion and closeness but real..down to earth love is more like it is described in 1 Corinthians 13......I prepared the following, based on that chapter for a mates wedding recently:-
Love suffers long, having patience with imperfect people.
Love is kind, is active in doing good.
Love does not envy, since it is non-possessive and non-competitive, it actually wants other people to get ahead.
Love does not parade itself, it has a self effacing quality and is not ostentatious.
Love is not puffed up, does not treat others arrogantly and does not behave rudely but displays good manners and courtesy.
Love does not seek its own, not insisting on its own rights and demanding precedence, rather being unselfish.
Love is not provoked, it is not irritable or touchy, rough or hostile but is graceful under pressure.
Love thinks no evil, it does not keep an account of wrongs done to it, instead it erases resentments.
Love does not rejoice in iniquity, does not find satisfaction in the shortcomings of others and spreading an evil report.
Love rejoices in the truth, aggressively advertising the good.
Love bears all things, defending and holding other people up.
Love believes the best about others, credits them with good intentions and is not suspicious.
Love hopes all things, never giving up on people but affirming their future.
Love endures all things, persevering and remaining loyal until the end.
Love never fails.
Best wishes, Mike who believes that love is a behaviour/action/doing thing..

bill: The type or kind of love Jesus Spoke of is the love, which makes this world a better place to live in. It is out-going concern for those in need. It is both, making and taking the time to allow Jesus to be reflected from within you, to them. Love is not solely, "a feeling" but a transfer of the things available to us from God, through Jesus, to those around us.

It is the non-emotional aspect. To love all people is to embrace them, their actions and their beliefs, even if you do not necessarily agree.
It is much easier to love all people if you do not automatically assume they are wrong, evil, etc.. (you know how things are on here) when you do not agree.
This non-emotional love is unconditional in its nature. It cannot be fazed by things like beliefs, race, gender, age, etc...
My favourite part of loving all? It's the respect. I feel very comforted and happy when I show respect for others (even TROLLS), as it means I am slowly defeating my enemy. I only have one enemy. Hate is my only enemy.
I do believe that in time this love will develop into a feeling. But in a 'family love' aspect, as opposed to romantic and emotional attachment.

It is both.
When you "get it" all will be clear.
It is the essence of spiritual birth.
If it could be given from one person to another I'd give it to you. I can only show it by example but R&S is not a good place to show true unconditional love. Even if you see it there's no certainty that you'll "Get it."
This is exactly why we should never judge others. You can't just decide to be Christ like you have to be called. When called you'll receive the gift. No work of mine can help. You may ask God, and if you have faith he will deliver but it's hard to have such faith without the love.
I hope for everyone to find this unconditional love within themselves and I'll treat everyone as if they have it, even if they make it clear they don't.
Bless you for asking.

I think it is both a feeling and something that you do. As my Bible reads, we are all created in God's image and my interpretation is that God is Love so that is the image I want to display. Of course, it is also true that we are all born into sin, but that is why Jesus was crucified. God's love was so strong for the people of the world that he sacrificed his Son in the name of our sins. To give up your child for mere mortals is pretty cool in my book and that's the type of love I want to display. I want to be His mirror.

If he spoke of it, I reckon it has nothing to do with the feeling of love at all, but just being nice.
Why would you love people you don't like? But you can be kind to them, so that's what he meant.

The love of Jesus is both. It is something you feel, something to cheer you up in dark days, and it is also something that shows in you. He is a candle and those who love Him are mirrors. We reflect His light, and so those that love Jesus try their best to be like Him.
Hope this helps. :)
